I just saw that they have decided to offer a vegetarian soup option. While I haven't tried it yet, and I'm not sure whether it will be a regular menu item or not, it's nice to see they're taking a step in the right direction and at least offering some veg friendly options, so we'll give them some bonus points for that. Kudos Whiskey Cake. Keep it coming. Overall Grade: B

This place is AMAZING! I always eat here when I'm in OKC! The chicken and cheese sandwich and the Idaho Trout are the best.

The OMG Burger was so good. Upon my first bite my brain was shipped to a magical land filled with baby laughter and rainbows. Add a side of Mac-n-Cheese and some fried green tomatoes and my life is now complete. This place is like 2 unicorns french kissing.....magical and joygasmic!

This isn't the kind of restaurant I would normally go to... ever. However, someone was the man of the hour and requested that we go here. I'd heard him rave about Whiskey Cake ad nauseum, so I knew he would choose it. Normally, at restaurants I would choose I have to bounce back and forth between options that sound good. The menu here was quite the opposite, and like choosing between castration or having all my teeth pulled out. The real insult wasn't the lack of choice on the menu, but the price tag on everything. Luckily, I had dinner plans so I didn't need to eat. I just got their signature dessert to go. How would I describe that cake? Analogously, I had a friend who had a disappointing birthday party before leaving for college. Then after opening all her presents, her parents gave her a surprise extra gift that was beautifully wrapped. She tore into it and found... a hair dryer. Her parents smiled and insisted she see what was inside of the hair dryer box. She was convinced it was a set of car keys, but when she opened it she found... a microwaveable bowl. The aftermath wasn't pretty. So take that story and double it, then you'll have this dessert. Despite its description, it was really, really bland. The waitress must've hated me, because I got a piece with a lot of burnt edge on it. Oh well, didn't taste so good, move along. Or not... that thing haunted me all weekend and kept me feeling queasy through Monday morning. Someone else tried the bell pepper margarita and said it was foul. No one else really commented on the food. I don't care what the occasion is, I won't be going back here. It was fairly pricy for poor quality.

AMAZING! Love how knowledgeable the server was of the cuisine, bar and preparation. I am thrilled with the cooks using ingredients grown in the garden restaurant or from local farmers within a 50 mile radius. The menu had great twists on well known dishes. The bar had a prohibition era feel to it, emphasizing the taste of the the alcohol and complimenting it with fresh herbs and hand squeezed fruit juice. Appetizer, drinks, dinner AND dessert were all incredible. Whiskey Cake is a MUST VISIT!

Awesome food and great service. Cant wait to try thr honeycomb honey I bought. Fried green tomatoes were to die for and the beerimisu was oh so good.

I've been several times, and the food is usually good. Even when I don't like it I can tell that they at least tried to make it flavorful, so the food is never bland. The service can be spotty, and I hate the hipster feel, but I usually have a good experience.

Full of show and pageantry but food is just ok and many mistakes on order. Lacks a genuine experience. I'd pass

The hamburger that I got was the best I have had in a VERY long time if not ever and the kettle fries were to die for!! It was worth the price. It would have been a perfect score if the menu was a bit more broad. However, the menu was too narrow. It took me a long time to decide on a hamburger and that was only done after eliminating all other options. With this said, I am glad that it did force me into ordering that incredible burger!

Everything we ate was amazing. highly recommend the whisky cake. It's the equivalent to riding a unicorn through a rainbow while shooting off Roman candles. Just perfect.

Once was enough for me, and most of my friends who have gone. The food was okay, but overpriced. The service was super weird, although I'm sure they have done away with things like having your waitress unscrew bolts that are on the napkins---because it is too awkward. Which is how I felt about the whole atmosphere, like they took 50 pinterest ideas and put them in one booth. I know some people love it, but it's trying too hard and I won't be going back.

Food was great. Chicken and waffles comes with bacon in the waffle and egg on top with chicken and gravy. I personally would have like it better without the egg on top. The biscuits and gravy were good, but needed more gravy. The burger and the chicken sandwich looked awesome. The grapefruit Rickey's were decent, but not as good as fireside pies. Our server started out ok but brought the wrong entree and seemed annoyed when we asked for separate checks.

I rarely ever, almost never, leave a yelp review. But myyyyy goodness was this place amazing. Tall ceilings, stylish decor, and the friendly host are among the first things you see upon entering this fine, hip, and homey establishment. Aaron, our bartender, suggested the perfect drinks, entrees and desserts for us. He also provided us with some great information about the restaurant and it's hand-crafted method for cooking and serving beverages. We were 150% satisfied. I highly recommend the salmon :)

It depends on the server for your overall experience at this restaurant. Sometimes we have a great meal, other times it lacks luster of the previous experiences. But the Whiskey Cake is always on point, one of the best desserts in town!

I traveled for 10 years and worked in more than 15 countries. Whiskey Cake is one of my favorites! Once a month I come out from San Diego for a week or two and every evening come in for dinner. Thanks for making your kitchen my home away from home. The variety & flavor of food, fresh & healthy options, Kayla & the staff, and the whiskey cake dessert come highly recommended.

Yay! Fun evening at Whiskey Cake! We found it on yelp and decided that the food and cocktails in here sounded good. We got there at 6 on a Saturday evening, and got a table on the patio immediately. We got lucky! We tried the mussels, country biscuits, goat cheese fondue, and the whiskey cake. They were all delicious; the goat cheese fondue was especially good. We also tried a few drinks: four roses on the rocks, the wabbit drink, and another whiskey cocktail I don't remember. We chose all our drinks based on our server's recommendations, so he did great. He was polite, helpful, and kept our water glasses full. Great service! I'll have to get a bottle of the four roses some time! In all, good evening, great food, and good drinks. I'll definitely stop by if I'm ever looking for a fun place to spend the evening.

Absolutely divine. Whiskey, desserts, organically conscious, can't ask anymore than that. They do really add whiskey in your cake, not literally but flavor wise. Located off North Expressway, adjacent to mall. Busy area and parking might be a challenge within the restaurant area. Next time you visit OKC, this is a must pit stop.

Not a good food selection at all. If your looking to drink this is your place but not to to dine. Disappointed

Another outstanding evening at Whiskey Cakes! This time I had the trout, Basel Hayden, Whiskey Cake for dessert and then French Press coffee. Hats off to the cooks and all the staff.

I have been 4 times now. They have great drink specials but are a little pricey. The food is pretty good but it's a little loud.

  • Randall S.

The service at the bar is good. Their food: outstanding. The pork brisket may be among the best meat I've ever eaten, and the deviled egg appy, with changing toppings (pulled pork for me) a perfect starter for someone eating mostly Paleo style. Not 100% sure the pork brisket came with the same accompaniments as listed on the menu (seemed starchier than I expected so didn't eat...but my tiny taste was yum). Would definitely return.

I tried this place last night. it was okay. i got the lamb dip, i was good especially the dipping sauce/juice - i wanted to drink it. The homemade potato chips were good. i had a few drinks - The Little Rye Lie, Vaux Carre and The Great Escape. They weren't bad. I got the whiskey cake for dessert because everyone raved about it. It was really rich, but it tasted burnt on the edges. The only thing i really liked about it was the whipped cream. If i go back there, I most likely won't get the cake again. That is why I gave this place 3 stars. The place is named Whiskey Cake, so your whiskey cake should be fabulous....

This place is the best place I have Ben to in a long time. I had some pancakes, bacon and some eggs. I though it would be a simple lunch but no. This was the best stuff I have ever had. The staff was very good . Good quality place with a out door part with swings chars. It also had a fire place. It was very cozy place. You know that public restroom are nasty but it was nice and offered free cologne. And over all a nice place to hang. The coffee was so good I had 3 cups. This is all.

I live across the street from this restaurant and could not wait for it to open in my neighborhood. After my first experience there, my family & I were hooked! The food & drinks always hit the spot, and the presentation of the restaurant down to every detail makes the whole experience worth it. I just have one bugaboo with my last couple visits there, however. I've had two different waiters do this at Whiskey Cakes--after my family & I are done eating, our waiters have come and dropped the check off at the table and are never to be seen again. We weren't ready for our ticket either time, simply enjoying ourselves, waiting for food to settle so we could order more drinks and possibly a few desserts to share. I know this isn't a big American custom to linger at the table, but my family's roots stem from all over--so when we get together, we like to eat, drink, and most importantly TIP! :-) So just because the waiter set our check down on the table, if they could continue checking on us and our empty water & Prosecco glasses, we would really appreciate that! And we recognize long visits mean tipping our friendly waiters for their time. Tips are a gesture of how much we enjoy our awesome waiters' help after all. And you truly have some great staff at the OKC location. I look forward to visiting with my family next time and hopefully be able to extend our visit so we can enjoy all that Whiskey Cake has to offer!

  • Jenn S.

Even if you only go for the fried green tomatoes and to stare at all the cute, bearded boys wearing suspenders... this place is worth a visit. It's got a down-home, 1890s feel with a menu fashioned after the most readily available local and regional produce. There's also a little garden to the side of Whiskey Cakes where fresh produce and bar garnishes are grown. Everyone is incredibly polite, and the staff is very knowledgeable. Whiskey Cakes is one of the few places that has wine on tap -- a newer trend in the wine world. It's a great way to try quality wines without having to buy a whole bottle.

Visited for brunch this Father's Day. Our party of four ordered 2 Farmer's Breakfasts, 1 BELT and 1 Pork, Egg & Grits. The sweet & spicy thick cut cherry wood bacon was burned to a crisp on both orders of the Farmer's Breakfast and the waitress was non-existent so we could tell her about the bacon. When she finally did check on our table she offered to replace the bacon but we were too far into our meal to do that. The BELT was ok but not spectacular for a $10 sandwich and the Pork, Egg & Grits order was mediocre in quality. We couldn't have a conversation without screeching because the music was so loud. Too many negatives for us to visit again.

Probably one of the better all around options in north Oklahoma City. I've been to Whiskey Cake for Brunch and Dinner, the menu options are very unique and it has a local/sustainable feel to it. Whiskey Cake is by no means a hidden gem so it tends to fill up pretty quickly on the weekends with a very nice feel for a night out. The place also has a good beer selection and I've been told that the cocktails are pretty good as well, tip: get one of the juice blends/smoothies for brunch

We were here about a month ago on our way to Gilbert Arizona. Stopping in Oklahoma City we had no idea we would get such yummy farm to table food- what a treat. Dessert was unspeakably divine- make sure you share it with others!

Excellent for OKC. We ate there a week ago and were pleased. I had the pork and enjoyed it. My son had the chicken sandwich and ate every bite. My husband had the duck and we all loved it. It was perfectly cooked and the farro was delicious. Everything was fresh. The whiskey cake was outstanding. We had a very good meal. The service was excellent as well. It was very loud- but it just lends itself to the casual atmosphere. We hope to return. UPDATE-3/22/15 We always get the deviled eggs. They are different every time but always good! The Thai duck wings are fantastic. the Burgers are always good. The Ramen pork belly soup we found to be just "OK". But that may just be us.

  • David B.

I enjoyed it to a certain degree. Organic is always good, and that's a plus, however it's overhyped, overpriced, and frankly not a lot of food options. I would go back, but I'm not chomping at the bits to do so.

  • Albert T.

A little too hipster for my taste. It seems that you must have a sleeve of tattoos or a beard to work here. The food isn't bad, but the pretentiousness is on the high end.

I'm from Southern California and love to eat. Its even better when I get to eat great food and this did not disappoint. This place made me feel at home from the atmosphere to the trendy food. We thoroughly enjoyed our food from beginning to end. I ate the clam chowder (bomb), and chicken and cheese sandwich which is made with rotisserie chicken and was out of this world moist. Someone had the bratwurst sandwich special and loved it as well. The other dudes had burgers and they finished them in about 2 seconds so all in all...success.

Full disclosure, in order to get 5 stars from me, you must be pumping out Michelin Stars like Chinese smog, so don't be detoured by a truly great 4 star summation. Whisky Cake in a word is fun! They're creative, both in the kitchen and bar, deliver some truly tasty dishes and understand customer service fully. Try the duck wings, the grilled cauliflower, the wood grilled salmon or the red trout! Good hearty food here folks!

Love the atmosphere. The staff was really knowledgeable about all the menu items. I really like the chunk of ice they use in the whiskey drinks. Adds a very nice touch.

Was in the city and read all the great reviews and had to try. We had brunch, wife had the waffles and chicken. I had steak and eggs. If your going to charge $20 for steak and eggs at least make sure the eggs are warm. Hate cold eggs. Her first time for waffles and chicken and she was happy with her meal. The coffee was good, but it too was tepid at best. The service was the only saving grace for the review rating.

Ya herrrrd about those ingredients straight from the garden...outside the front door!!!Fresh, delicious food done RIGHT! Who can compete woth live strawberries being grown on premise!?!? Rachel, our server, killed it!! She chased the location of the tri-tip (Texas:) and then had the bartender (also a pro, nice man-bun) craft my favorite cocktail, right on time bay-beeee! Tri-tip, brussel sprouts, all amazing!! But the best, and I mean this is slap your mamma good, the namesake. DO IT, DOOO ITTTT DOOOOOOO IIIIIIITTTTTTTTT!!!!

The drinks warrant a 5, the food brings it to the 4. We went with a few friends and I got to try all their drinks-excellent! I got the mint julep and loved everything from the cup it was in to the taste. The food was less impressing. I got their salmon, and it was nothing special, but not bad, just meh. We tried the whiskey cake and that was moist and yummy. The toppings they put on the cake are scrumptious aka the whip cream, ice cream and caramel sauce.

Whiskey Cake is everything you'd never expect to find in a mall parking lot. With delicious hand-crafted cocktails and fresh, local ingredients, Whiskey Cake would seem to be more at home in a trendy up-and-coming district than "conveniently located within walking distance from Dillard's." I particularly like the use of fresh squeezed juices in the cocktails--including my personal favorite, cucumber juice. Add some gin and a splash of lime, and you've got a summer party in your mouth. The decor is light, airy, and open, making for a wonderful and inviting space to kick back with friends. Whiskey Cake isn't a particularly intimate restaurant, but the volume and openness give it a youthful exuberance that makes for a very fun dining experience.

Stopped in for lunch while in town on business. Hesitated at first hearing the "farm to table" hype. Came out very pleasantly surprised. We were seated right away and our waiter was attentive (if not a little exuberant) We started with the Onion dip and fresh made kettle chips. Wow, simple and delicious. We both went with the Chicken Melt, which was more like a club. Another huge surprise. Great flavor, great bread, and the bacon...need I say more? Came out re-thinking the place. I'll be back when in town again.

This is a neat place farm to table. We had the burgers. They are brisket ground beef with a home made bun. The birger had a great taste. It was seasoned perfectly and the bun gave it a great finish. This might be my favorite burger ever. It was just perfect. Wait staff is friendly and responsive

Really enjoyed Whiskey Cake for dinner. I had the lamb dip sandwich was was very tasty with a capital V. Also ordered the kettle chips and chipotle onion ranch dip appetizer. Don't waste the money. The chips were very greasy and luke warm. The fried green tomatoes are much much better (had those on the previous visit--well worth it). Definite highlight is the Whiskey Cake. You just gotta have it.

Dinner tonight at Whiskey Cake OKC was great. Good, fresh food and excellent service. Thanks, Casey ! Started with deviled eggs. Very tasty representation of their farm to fork philosophy. Followed with farm salad that was perfectly dressed with a scrumptious vinaigrette. Added two sides of Parmesan fries and avacado slaw, both good. Had to get their signature dessert of Whiskey Cake to go. The huge bar, many common tables and open spectator kitchen make for a fun and lively atmosphere. Highly recommended for their food and Eco friendly policies.

I gotta go five stars here. The food is amazing ... But the cocktails blow me away. Look, you combine basil, mint and cucumber and you've basically won my heart. But then you add in warm, delicious chicken melts, hearty banh mi ... I'm drooling now, excise me.

Do you remember being a freshman in high school and there was that senior you admired from afar? Not a crush, per se, just someone who was cool without really trying too hard: pulled off those funky outfits you never could, drove a fun old car & knew all the great bands but didn't brag about it? That's how I feel about Whiskey Cake. I want to hang out with it, listen to its records, check out all the random stuff on their shelves and soak it all in. Now imagine that that upperclassman's mom cooked delicious, organic, creative dishes and welcomed you with open arms to her well-dressed table. Ok, now it might be a crush. I have been to Whiskey Cake for brunch and lunch and enjoyed every bite (and sip) at both meals. The French toast was the best I have ever had (and trust me, I've had lots!) not too sweet and perfectly fluffy. I'm dying to try the fresh squeezed mimosas and other bubbly brunchy beverages, but when you can't have those, the French press coffee is a worthy substitute. Today at lunch I had the spinach salad with crispy chicken and again they have this one down to perfection. Crisp apples, lightly fried chicken and bright spinach were perfectly balanced out with a light dressing. I felt how you should after ordering a salad: satisfied but not stuffed. I'm dying to come back for dinner to see how the cool kid finishes out the day, especially since I've heard great things about the signature dish. Just please watch my check-ins and make sure I don't become a borderline stalker!

Where is it? Penn Square Mall Parking lot by Dillards. Formerly a place called Elephant Bar. Not surprised they did not last. Whiskey Cake is what it is called now. Totally redone interior. Casual, friendly and comfortable. Large bar. Televisions for game hounds. And a separate area with a huge television for parties. Our first time here. Weeknight. Not busy. My dining companion ordered hummus to start. Now I am not a big fan of something that sounds like a diagnosis at the docs office. "Well Mac, it appears you have hummus. We will get you a prescription for that and it will clear up in a few weeks." But this hummus was good. Tasty appetizer. Plenty to munch on while you ponder your ever rising credit card balance. We ordered the salmon and the tri tip. Thumbs up on both. I ate all the salmon. And basically was like, damn, that was a good recipe. Dare I say, the best salmon I have ever had. It was really excellent. Afterwards we of course had to try the Whiskey cake dessert. Plenty for two or three. And what is this, they bring a bowl of FRESH whipped cream to plunk down on it. Who the heck does that nowadays? Where is the pressurized can? It was good cake. But it needed more sauce on the plate. The cake is very dry. Thus all the whipped cream. But more sauce would go well, or more moisture in the cake. My sweet tooth of course could care less and scarfed it down like a kid discovering a bag of M&Ms for the first time. So for a first impression, big thumbs up. They have an outdoor seating area with heaters for milder days. People were indeed sitting out this particular night. Great place to bring a hot date, or a mediocre date, and be happy that at least the food was very good. The menu is a bit on the limited side as far as main courses. If you are expecting a Cheesecake Factory menu size, you will be disappointed. But what they have, they apparently do very well. Better to do a few things very well instead of a hundred mediocre offerings. And I'm sure the kitchen staff is less stressed when they don't have to try and memorize a gazillion different entree's. Price wise, for two, with no booze, dinner, dessert, you will probably hit the $60 mark. And if you meet a hottie over at the mall, you can say you know a nice little out of the way place to grab a bite to eat, and then just walk out the door of Dillards and across the parking lot and you are there. Bam! Easy. :-) Would we go back? Heck yea!

Whiskey Cake has been a great addition to the restaurant scene of OKC and more specifically this corner of OKC. Surrounded by the mall and about a million chain restaurants, Whiskey Cake stands out as a unique and local eatery with a different experience to offer rather than Olive Garden or Chilli's. I've been here several times, and my favorite thing to do is split a few appetizers around the table and save room for dessert! My favorite appetizers are the hummus and the pork sliders! The kale and pomegranate salad is also a yummy and unique menu item. But please, save room for dessert! The whiskey cake is to die for and you must try it! I love the asthetic of Whiskey Cake too. It is decorated very uniquely, with fun couches and wall decorations that really speak to its farm to table mentality! The patio is a great option if the weather is nice (although the have the music a little too loud if you ask me!). All in all, I definitely recommend Whiskey Cake, and often suggest to my friends for a dinner spot!

It. Takes. Too. Long. Even when not packed, this palladium of poser pretension is a excessive on faux ambience and lacking in efficiency. That being said, I've always enjoyed their food -- notably their ramen. This last time the bread for the goat cheese fondue was hideously stale and flavorless and my Mac and cheese was bland with a chilled center. Cod sandwich was much better if only the tasty filet had don't been encased in 3 cubic tons of bolillo bread.

First time in Oklahoma City and we stumbled across this GEM! First off, the staff was super friendly and the server thoroughly explained their process. They recycle as much as possible and everything is made fresh in the restaurant. Second, the food was outstanding and I can't say better things about the burgers. Last, our server wasn't pushy about dessert but we had the Whiskey Cake and it was awesome. My only complaint is that we don't have one in KC!

Farm to table goodness. The cocktails are dynamite. The food is right on. This is my new favorite place.

To me Whiskey Cake shadows the Elephant Bar. Both establishments have a variety of Asian influenced dishes mixed with comfort food. Where Whiskey Cake excels? The farm to table feel, interior decor and old fashion speakeasy-esq styled cocktails. I feel like I'm eating healthy when we all know we're technically not. While I was out of town, the boo decided to dine here and tried the Pork Belly Ramen. He enjoyed the pork belly pieces (delicious) but the broth tasted like beef stock (fail). I continued to avoid the place. We live 5 minutes away, so that was REALLY hard to do. I finally gave in and dined here for a late lunch at the bar. The bartender was super duper busy but super friendly. She was making drinks for the wait staff while tending to the customers at the bar. 2 sets of 2 people at both ends of the bar and myself. I thought she was doing a fantastic job, but I felt like my food and water made me downgrade this review. I normally love cucumber water, but at first sip it tasted strange. It tasted like plastic was infused into the water or ice cubes. I took a sip with and without the straw and couldn't quite put my finger on what was wrong. I decided to order a Mint Julep (yum!) and Turkey burger (OK). I could just be nit picky, but I thought there was too much going on in my burg. Pesto aoili, cranberry compote (I chose to have that on the side), avocado, lettuce, tomato. 2 1/2 danity pieces of avo made me sad. Turkey patty had chopped onions mixed in and was bordering on too salty. Maybe that was what the compote was for! The side of kettle chips made up for it in a way. Realize that 3 stars isn't a bad thing. I would like to come back maybe for their brunch or just drinks and a piece of cake.

We have been here a couple of times and have enjoyed everything we have tried so far. This farm-to-table style restaurant is quickly becoming one of our favorites. The deviled eggs appetizer with the pulled pork topping was delicious (FYI: the egg topping changes weekly.) We have had the Chicken Melt, Lamb Dip sandwich, Turkey Melt, and the Chicken & Waffles from the brunch menu, and all have been fresh and full of flavor. Our son also loved their slider burgers and fries. The namesake whiskey cake is one of the best restaurant desserts I have had in a long time! As for those calling this a "chain" restaurant, I guess my definition doesn't include those with only two locations over 3.5 hours apart. Don't get hung up on labels and just enjoy the food. :)

  • Samantha K.

First of all, I love the atmosphere. The decor was my favorite. It was a mix of industrial, modern, and orange couches. Haha. There were 2 areas with comfy couches and chairs where you could just hang out and have a drink and appetizers. They had a good choice of whiskey and bourbon and cocktails of each. The food may have been a little too trendy for me. It was a lot of common dishes that were just reimagined with new ingredients. I had the wood grilled salmon over a lentil and roasted butternut squash and tomatoes salad. The salmon had no flavor and was overcooked. The salad also had little flavor. My husband ordered the brisket steak which really just looked like pork tenderloin but he enjoyed it. We had to try the whiskey cake since the restaurant is named after it. It was pretty good. It was soft and moist and dense with a crispy crust on top. I would go back to have some drinks and maybe hang out on the patio.

Fantastic. We love farm to table restaurants. Our server, Cameron, was very knowledgable about the food and the drinks. I got the pomegranate and kale salad and my husband got the chicken and cheese melt. We loved the fire-roasted shishitos and the whiskey cake!

I thought the food here was very good! The menu is pretty limited but the quality is great. We had the onion dip as an appetizer which was really good. For lunch we shared a couple of sandwiches, the OMG burger and chicken and cheese melt. Both were very yummy. But the best part of the meal....THE WHISKEY CAKE! Wow! That is amazing! If you go, you must try!!! I hear we are getting one of these in KC, if we do I will be going.

Service was poor. (Waitress ignored us when we wanted to order, ignored us when we needed drink refills, and ignored us when we wanted to pay.) Food was not cooked to order. (I ordered a steak cooked medium and it came out in about 5 minutes (literally). The outside was semi warm but the center was cold. It was cooked, but had gotten cold and was semi-reheated maybe? No matter what there is no way they cooked my steak after I ordered.) Anyway, waste of time, waste of money. Won't be going back.

Cute little hipster spot. Nice options on the menu. Would have liked a few more salad options and maybe a little less butter on my sandwich but all and all pretty good! Probably some of the best hummus and pita bread I've had in a while. Also great tuna stack sandwich. AMAZING KETTLE CHIPS! Reasonable prices. Would definitely go back the next time I am in Oklahoma.

This place is truly one of my new favorites in okc! We love sitting at the bar - the bar staff is truly amazing and very entertaining to watch them make all the delicious craft cocktails whiskey cake has to offer. I have never eaten anything bad here. The kale pomegranate salad is so wonderful, the brussel sprouts are my new favorite and the mussel appetizer is my go to. We love bringing out of town guest here!

I came here STARVING with a girlfriend several hours after a hot yoga class, having not eaten anything all day...probably not the best decision, but nonetheless...there we were. We got there around 3:30 pm, and we were given their dinner menu, so I can't speak to what lunches are like, but our "dinner" was pretty awesome. Their concept is pretty cool...farm to table is how they try to roll. There are no freezers in the restaurant, and they pretty much make everything from scratch. They even have a garden adjacent to the restaurant where they grow their own veges and herbs. I ha an iced tea which was unsweatened, refreshing, and homemade, with free refills (yay!) I ended up trying a cup of their creamy tomato soup, which was a special, and was totally delicious. Definitely had a lot of cream in there, so if that's not your thing, this is not the soup for you. For my main course I had the OMG burger. This thing is pretty much exactly as it sounds. It is a HUGE burger on a challah roll with a fried onion ring, cremini mushrooms, chipotle mayo and Wisconsin cheddar. It was good, although I think the regular burger would also have done it for me. It was more of a traditional bacon cheddar burger, also huge. Both came with a side of kettle chips, and we ordered parmesan fries to split. Definitely not a healthy meal, but it hit the spot for sure! They also have an extensive whiskey menu...one would hope with a name like whiskey cake kitchen. We didn't have anything to drink due to the dehydration and starvation...but will next time. Their prices are high (i.e., $30 for a class of macallan 18, or $20 for lagavulin 16), but they have a very large selection that I haven't really found elsewhere.

Since I took my first bite of Whiskey Cake, back in August, I knew my grandparents would love it! Today was the day we got to share a delightful lunch and a slice of that amazing cake. My Mamaw and Papaw loved everything. The cool decor, darling lightbulb vase with sprig of rosemary as a centerpiece, the menu and above all... Amy. Amy was our waitress and she was amazing!! Patient, kind and extremely helpful. Ask for her if you can!! Our soup, salad and sandwiches were delicious!! I was correct, the amazing cake was a HUGE hit!

Yes, this place really is *all that*! Outstanding food, and a fun atmosphere. It is truly worth going just for the namesake "Whiskey Cake" alone (with a French-press coffee, please!) Oh - and the guys. Where did all of these hot waiters and bartenders come from? Wow! There's little else to say that hasn't already been said in other reviews. I'm visiting from out of town, and ate there three times last week - so trust me. Just go. It's great.

I think Whiskey Cake is a fantastic addition to the OKC restaurant scene. People call it a chain but I appreciate the company's efforts to support local businesses and farmers -- it stimulates the economy and ensures that the food I'm eating is fresh. I'm all for that. Plus, the cinnamon suckers and salt water taffy they give away that are made in Chickasha, OK are my favorite post-meal treat from any restaurant. I've eaten there numerous times and tried several different dishes. My faves from the brunch menu are the chicken and waffles -- with house-cured bacon cooked right into the waffle! eggs benedict, and the jalapeno cheddar biscuits with sausage gravy. The build-your-own-bloody-marry bar is fantastic too and I enjoyed the Bubbles and Berries cocktail. As for lunch and dinner, I like to order the 3 Little Pigs appetizer as an entree with a side of the homemade mac and cheese. Other favorites include the OMG Burger (knife and fork required), the Lobster Roll, the BBQ Bahn Mi sandwich, and of course, the Farm Bird. The Whiskey Cake and Fried Green Tomatoes are a must. WC has become my OKC go-to place to dine out with friends for the social atmosphere and extensive drink selection. Highly recommend.

Went in before Christmas shopping with family and wasn't sure what to expect. Some of the menu items had "interesting" descriptions which made me a little nervous but all of my family enjoyed everything we had! Love the farm to fork, and the fact you can see the kitchen. Great environment and our waitress was amazing. Will be going back hopefully soon.

This place was very inspiring. I loved how they use as many local farmers and organic materials. Then I had my first chicken and waffles. I've honestly been planning for a while to make my own molecular version, then I had their take on it and it was so very good. The gravy had a hint of lemon in it and that was a very nice touch in my eyes. Then I tried the adult mac and cheese, amazing. I'll definitely go back and recommend this place to everyone I know.

Whiskey Cake is in the old "Elephant Bar" remodeled building in the parking lot of Penn Square Mall. It's a private lot, but parking is going to be a pain when the mall is in full swing. I rated the restaurant as "Not Child Friendly" because it seems like more of a bar or lounge than a restaurant that should have kids running around. The atmosphere is really neat. I'd say it's a pretty trendy hipster-y hint of steam-punk-y. The staff is a super friendly huge melting pot of race/gender/culture/style. If you are offended by people with tattoos, women with short hair, people with piercings, etc... this place isn't for you. The "uniforms" were varied and pretty slick: suspenders, "news boy" caps, vests, jeans, skirts, and I think I saw a bandana on one of the bartenders! Very snazzy joint. We sat in my sister-in-laws section, so I won't talk about her service, but her section was pretty neat as well. She had 2 tables that seated 4, a rocking chair, an upholstered chair, and a couch that I wouldn't be caught dead with in my living room. (It may have been comfy, but the red floral pattern was definitely not my style) There were a couple of chair-cages hanging from chains on the patio, which many people took turns spinning and sleeping and sitting in. Seating seemed adequate for a large variety of party sizes, including a full bar. The food selection is far more limited than the booze selection, which made the place seem less like a restaurant, and more like a catchy bar with some food in case you get hungry. The menus are a tad difficult to read due to the abbreviations, (example: rotis chicken, instead of rotisserie, blt instead of bacon lettuce tomato) and some bizarre sounding foods I've never heard of. A few of us got the Chicken and Cheese Melt, which was a BLT with avocado, pesto mayo, and chicken on sourdough. Now, I was afraid the food was going to suck because I thought "this is just a bar, with food in case." I could not have been more wrong. Everything was amazing. Chicken was juicy, bacon was thick, sourdough was flavorful. I wasn't too keen on the kettle chips that pretty much everything comes with. They weren't bad, I just don't really care for kettle chips, and would have preferred french fries or the adult mac-n-cheese as a side. My father in law got the "OMG BURGER" and by God... The first words everyone said when they saw it was "OH MY GOD." After removing the near-fist sized onion ring off the burger, it was still so big a full grown man had some difficulty smashing it down into his mouth. He was definitely NOT complaining, but you may need a small car jack to pry your mouth open wide enough to tackle that beast. They also serve "Triple A Soda" which is produced in Bricktown (OKC) by the Bricktown Candy Company. I wasn't too keen on the flavor of cherry in their "cherry cola" but the mexi-coke (cola made with sugar instead of HFCS) was wonderful. All in all the place was far better than I anticipated. And the "Whiskey Cake" was pretty awesome.

This place has the perfect combination of atmosphere, energy, fine foods and a very full bar. I sat at the bar where Kurt learned my name, recommended the salmon, and poured a glass of double woodford reserve on the rocks (the bourbon list is huge). I tried the deviled eggs first - creative, chilled, zesty. But the truly extraordinary 5-star worthy plate is the salmon, perfectly cooked in a creamy lemon sauce with a surprise of avocado underneath. Truly showstopping dish. It was all tied together by outstanding service and a warm, lively, and personal setting. I will be coming to OKC many times in the coming weeks for business and intend to make a habit out of exploring this beautiful menu and relaxing with a great drink. Top marks.

The food and service are top notch at Whiskey Cake. There is a large bar, loads of seating, and a great patio. The space is large and open with exposed ceiling beams. There is ample parking and plenty of tables small partires or larger groups. They serve brunch/breakfast on the weekend. They also have a make your own bloody mary bar with a great selection of ingredients. To see what "local" items and farms they are currently using, check the "local" chalkboard to the left of the bar. I recommend that you try Whiskey Cake. Like I said, the food and service are great. I had the Chicken and Bacon Waffle. Yes, there is really strips of bacon cooked right into the middle of the waffle! Blew my mind and taste buds. My wife had the farmers breakfast. She liked everything about it.

Sat at bar with my wife and had a few drinks which they make right in front of you. Staff was great and friendly. We had the goat cheese fondue and the mussels. They were great and the grilled sourdough bead it comes with! Also you have to try the Whiskey Cake! Great date night! Will do again!

This was our first time at Whisky Cake, service was great, love the idea of local foods but I was not impressed with the food. I had the portabella sandwich and chips. The sandwich had such a strong smoke flavor to it, it made me cough. We also had the fries they were just OK . We were really hoping for so much more. For the price I would not go back.

I got the omg burger and it was very juicy!! At first I did not even know how to eat it because it was so big! So , I asked the waiter and he have me some advice to take the onion ring off first and eat it like a side! He was right! It worked! We also go the ramen, warm couscous, fried green tomatoes, and green beans. If you like couscous, get the side dish! It was some of the best couscous we have ever had. It has edamame beans, tomatoes, lemon, and many other ingredients in it! The fried green tomatoes were amazing as well! What made them so good was the dipping spice that accompanied them! Yummy!

It's farm fresh, it's totally tasty, but a little bit pricey. However, the atmosphere is pretty cool and the bar area is grand. A must try for those of you that want some more health in your diet. We'll want to go back and try their brunch next time.

We live close and should go more often! Had the lamb stack tonight. If you like lamb you will love this. The chunk of pickle staked to the stack was great. May be the best pickle I've ever had. They are available for takeout, lucky me. Our server, Madison, was the perfect balance of attentive and informative without being intrusive.

Our waitress was friendly but the service was slow even though it was after lunch hours. Decor and food presentations are interesting-cool. The entree plates are wooden boards which is different. The menu consists mostly of drinks...so it is a bit lacking. It costs a bit more since it is local and fresh...and nothing frozen. My husband ordered the omg burger and I had the melt which both come with chips. It was good, but nothing we would crave for again. My friend had the salmon ..cooked medium and enjoyed it. Another friend had the turkey burger and thought it tasted a bit boring. One of the beers we ordered tasted flat. Two of the drinks we asked for that was from the menu were not available. We ordered the famous whiskey cake. Warm moist chocolate thick brownie like texture cake with pecans and fresh cream was fabulous! Just make sure to eat it when it is warm!! My friend had hers to go and ate it when it wasn't warm and it wasn't that good. We all agreed that it wasn't as great as we expected from all the hype, but it is still a good place to try. Definitely try the whiskey cake for dessert!

On the positive side they sent the bartender over to accommodate my wife's request for a sugar free cocktail. On the odd side he called diabetes "kind do rare" and didn't seem to know what it was. Since this is a largely locally sourced restaurant be prepared if the menu has recently changed. I had the tri tip which was extremely salty, as was my wife's ramen bowl. Where they really lost was when the ramen didn't have the promised quail egg the waitress went to find out they were out but didn't offer any accommodation. All in all a pretty expensive blah experience.

The good: fun menu, nice drink selection, cheerful alternative waitstaff - even the bartenders seemed to be in costume (newsboy hats, suspenders, 1940s work shirts - weird but it worked). Brunch time Bloody Mary Bar rocked (thanks for the bonus salad I shoved in my glass), and the sauces for all the appetizers were super yummy. The great: Believe it or not, the edamame mushroom veggie burger stole the show. Who knew the veggie burger would be the best thing ordered?? The boring: Chicken and waffles left much to be desired. Every bite left our tasters expecting more taste would be found in the next bite, but each one after was equally disappointing. Pork and beans were salty and pork seemed almost in the verge of being raw. Just a couple of minor issues with food not being outstanding, but nothing horrible. Overall, Whiskey Cake is fun and fierce - I love the effort to bring local foods to the mainstream table.

The very worst Eggs Benedict I've ever had, if you can really call it that. Save yourself the trip. You could make this cold fried egg sandwich at home. It's two FRIED eggs, with the yolk cooked SOLID placed on top of a few pieces of raw cold spinach and a tomato slice on cold toast. It had LESS than an 1/8th of a teaspoon total of hollandaise sauce on the fried eggs. When we told the waiter that he must of brought the wrong dish, he said their version is a little creative. I say, lazy and cutting corners. He didn't offer to bring some hollandaise on the side to warm the cold dry dish up. Not the brunch I had in mind. On a side note regarding our second dish, the grilled shrimp on the salad was fine. However, in addition to the lettuce there was only one grape tomato cut in half and one stalk of grilled asparagus. A horrible Saturday brunch not worth our twenty minute drive.

My wife and little one were passing through OKC on our road trip home and came across this place. Looked interesting so had to try it. My wife and I were both really impressed. Loved the atmosphere and Austin did a great job taking care of us. He told us about the background of the restaurant and what they're known for and made some great recommendations. My wife had the Atlantic Cod Sandwich and I had the OMG burger and holy smokes were we blown away. The burger was packed with all kinds of greatness. If you want to know what victory tastes like, order the OMG. After dinner and drinks, we had to try the whiskey cake dessert and were once again blown away. Great food, great service, and great atmosphere made for a great experience. Even when an outside solicitor came by the table trying to sell us something, the manager was quick to shut it down to prevent any disturbances and apologized to us for any inconvenience. Any time we're passing through OKC again, I know where we're stopping!

We love coming to this place whether it be for date night or Sunday brunch. We have tried almost everything on the menu and haven't had anything I didn't like. Sunday brunch is great, especially when they have the Bloody Mary bar. Service and wait staff is always pleasant, fast, knowledgable about the ever changing menu since the restaurant uses what is available locally. Great place!

I absolutely enjoy this place. The Duck Wings (Drumsticks) are delicious and the mussels are just as amazing. I feel like the chef here has added an Asian twist to most of the dishes but I can't be quite sure. They have a full bar and they offer mix drinks as well. I ordered the OMG Burger and the Salmon here. The burger is good but I wouldn't say it stands out besides the appearance. The Salmon though, is a winner. It is a crispy Salmon steak that sits on top of corn and eggplant puree (I think). Anyway, it's just delicious. My friend had the steak dish here and he enjoys it as well. Service is great the last 3 times I have been here. Definitely save room for that Whiskey Cake! It will definitely set you over the top. It is a warm and very moist cake that isn't overly sweet but just plain awesome.

Underwhelmed is how I would describe my feelings about Whiskey Cake, and I had high hopes after all the great Yelp reviews. I really liked the interior of the restaurant, but I was not blown away by the food or concept. I had the bahn mi and my partner had the chicken and cheese melt. Maybe that was my bad. Why did I order an overpriced bahn mi here when I could have gone over to 23rd and Classen for the real deal at 1/3 of the price? We were annoyed that the dishes came with house chips automatically and would have preferred having the option for a different side (even at an upcharge), without having to also have said house chips. Also, I'm kind of annoyed by the "local" advertising of this restaurant. I feel like stellar food should come first, followed by, "oh by the way, we source from these amazing local producers, as we really should." It just seems forced here. That whiskey cake, though, is really good stuff and I'm sure it has a place in my future. The drinks were good, too.

BRUNCH- First time visit and will return. I love the atmosphere and the décor. Since this was our first visit our waitress told us about the Whisky Cake concept, farm to fork and it was geared toward the prohibition era style decor. My husband and I had the juice specials Beet le Juice and the Jessica Wabbit, and they were awesome. Next came our food, I had the French Toast with fresh fruit and my husband had the Poblano chicken soup and salad. The soup is fantastic. Anyway, we left out of there stuffed and checked out the Farmers Market outside the restaurant, which was a nice touch.

Not enough love for their smoked duck here in the reviews. I really enjoy a well cooked duck breast. The skin was nice and crispy with a little char and the flavor was perfect. It wasn't over cooked either,, nice and red in the middle. The sweet potato hash with fennel was spicy and a good compliment to the smokey flavors of the duck. There was some corn in there too to give the plate some needed color. The whole dish was SO good with my Anchor Steam brew. They have a great selection of beers and I've heard that their mixed drinks are really good. I love the table settings and service was excellent. It is a touch pricey (even if you avoid big ticket items like the smoked duck entree) but we have yet to have anything we did not want more of. It is a little loud in the room but it is not supposed to be an intimate, romantic place. They take reservations, thank goodness, because I would have hated to wait in that line on a Saturday night.

    (4)
  • Mike Z.

Won't make reservation for 10 a week out but will allow walk in! How does that make any sense???? Hostess and manager were no help and couldn't give a solid explanation why that was a policy. I will take business elsewhere. I'm sure plenty of restaurants would take out biz.

I like this place! The atmosphere is unlike anywhere else I've been which is harder and harder to find these days. Excellent craft cocktails and a rotating menu to accommodate the products they are able to buy from local farmers. I like that their brunch menu has a good variety between breakfast foods and lunch items. I enjoyed the OMG burger and I've also tried the pork belly ramen which was very flavorful! The whiskey cake dessert itself is incredible and is a must-try! I love their farm to fork, garden to glass concept but it is very new to most people so you might be intimidated on your first visit. Once you try it though, I guarantee you won't be disappointed! They also have an awesome space in the back for special events or private parties.

After my first review the general manager sent a message asking me to call and discuss our visit. He was so nice and has convinced me to give Whiskey Cake another try. I changed my rating to 4 stars because the food was excellent and should not be judged simply on bad service. I will go back soon and try again. Next time I won't leave without my dessert!

Love Farm to table restaurants!! Love all the options and the variety. Decor is welcoming but not too upscale. Family friendly for sure. Food looks amazing like it walked off the pages of a magazine and tastes equally amazing!! Wait staff was friendly, helpful and on task. We will be enjoying many a meal here I'm sure.

Lovely place! We sat on the patio in the evening and shared appetizers and had Blufield Riesling. Great decor, friendly wait staff, fabulously yummy menu, and the best Riesling I've ever tried. (We had the mussels, the butcher block, and the scratch cake.)

We were simply stunned at how many restaurants in Oklahoma City close by 9 or are closed on Sunday altogether. Fortunately, Whiskey Cake is open past 9:00 PM. We enjoyed the outdoor terrace. Ambiance: Very nice Service: Friendly, expeditious (but too pushy). Cuisine: Very good. The signature cake is indeed outstanding. Although our server was very friendly and helpful, she was a bit pushy, trying to steer us toward certain dishes, Mostly, we didn't appreciate her cleaning the patio while we were dining. (i.e. sweeping). It was a full hour before closing. Quite simply, staff shouldn't begin cleaning until closing time. The noise and dust are distracting. We also didn't appreciate her dropping the bill on the table while we were still eating. The message was clear: Hurry up and go home. Too bad. Other than the server, we enjoyed Whiskey Cake.

It's alright. It's not five stars as it's a chain. The lunch menu is interesting, but it tries too hard to be "out there", hip and funky. I had the BBQ Binh Mi sandwich and it was okay. There was very little BBQ sauce which was a problem as the bun, while good, was dry as a bone a soaked up what little moisture in the sandwich. We also had the deviled eggs, beef jerky, fired green tomatoes, and pita bread with three sauces. Deviled eggs, meh...beef jerky, tender but oddly spiced...fired GTs, YUM!!! Pita Bread, double yum. We finished the meal with Whiskey Cake. It was outstanding. More than enough to share. I was with a work group of 15 people and the consensus was, "It's okay, but I probably won't go back." I have to agree with that. Too expensive of lunch, for okay quality food. And what is with the 1930's paper boy thing??? Odd...

We went last Friday. While we waited for our table we took in the super cool atmosphere of the restaurant and explored a bit. We stepped outside the front door to a small fenced area that contains several raised gardens. Here they grow strawberries, cucumbers, herbs, tomatoes and so much more. I noticed a sign that explained that while they can't possibly grow enough in this garden to feed all their customers, the harvested vegetables are used in the kitchen. From the garden we stepped back inside to a market area that had freshly canned pickles and jams available for sale. Yes, I took home one of each and the pickles are already gone. It wasn't long before our table on the porch was ready and we were seated. The menu includes a variety of fresh salads, burgers, sammies, and entrees like steak, chicken, fish and duck. The prices range from twelve to twenty-three bucks. For our first visit we started with the fire roasted peppers as an appetizer. They were so good. With some bread and a glass of wine, I could have made a meal from just the peppers. But I was a hungry girl and everything looked so good. So, I followed that with the chicken and cheese melt sandwich (they had me at avocado) and the hubs had the OMG burger that a friend had recommended. Neither of us were disappointed with our choices. After we finished our dinner, we moved inside to one of the comfy retro couches by the bar for dessert, Whiskey Cake! Just as the name implies, it's a cake with bourbon and spiced pecans topped with fresh whipped cream. It is a warm sinful delight. Not even a crumb was left on the plate.

I went there when they first opened and waited forever. I went about a month ago and didn't have to wait nearly as long. That's the good part. It was still an hour start to finish for lunch. They work so hard at being trendy I had trouble finding something that sounded interesting. I settled on the BBQ Banh Mi. It had as much Cilantro as pork. For a $13 dollar sandwich go to the Gastropub. I'm curious where the goat farm is in OKC because the chef must love it. My business associates love it but I think it is because they haven't owned a restaurant before. Just too trendy for me but that's why there's plenty of other restaurant choices...

This place is like a hipster TGIFriday's in that there is plenty of "theme" and "flair" going on. However, unlike TGIFriday's, this place has really good food and a truly exceptional bar. The menu options here are varied, and the quality and freshness factor is definitely there. I had a simple burger, and it was made perfectly. It is probably one of the best stocked bars in the entire city, featuring spirits that 95% of bars just don't carry--and the bartenders actually know what to do with them (they are really professionals). My one gripe is that once I finished my food, it took me forever to get out of there, as the service seemed to buckle under the pressure of a large group.

We chose this place for brunch on a whim. We ordered buffalo chicken style deviled eggs which were so creative and delicious. But what I haven't stopped dreaming about is that French toast. After my first bite I became immediately sad. Why? Because I knew this piece of heaven would eventually end. It literally melted in my mouth and the combination of fruits and nuts was genius (and I normally like my French toast plain!). I crave it literally every day. It was that good. The cheddar jalapeño biscuits were fantastic too. My husband liked his sandwich and he was impressed with the French press coffee. He thought the inside was a little hipster but we both agreed the service was perfect. I can't wait to go back!

Eat Whiskey Cake. You are welcome... We went to lunch and I decided to try something new. I love farm to fork and this restaurant fit the bill. We were greeted quickly and seated in a booth as requested. Our server was very informative and went over "who we are" and answered questions about the menu. I ordered the salmon and it was so delicious. It was seasoned wonderfully and cooked to fish perfection. The veggies were unique and delish. My little sister order a burger that looked crazy good. She said it was very very good. My son who got the leftovers (1/2 the burger 30 minutes after we left) said it was very good. There were 4 of us out to lunch that day and we were tipped off about dessert before hand. We all split the whiskey cake. If you go to this new restaurant, eat whiskey cake. I'm not sure if I've mentioned the whiskey cake yet. So, I'll fill you in. EAT THE WHISKEY CAKE!!! I can't describe it other than pure confectionary perfection, topped with fresh whipped cream! Eat the damn cake!

We showed up at 3:30 in the afternoon and was given their brunch clipboard. 3 of the 4 pages was alcohol related, so be prepared to not have a big selection of food choices if you go at that time. Their food is good, and tastes fresh, but their prices are bad! Also, their soft drink prices are $3 per person regardless of age. I brought 2 of my children with me, and their kids meals were $5 each, and then $3 for drinks, making it $8 per child. Their prices for their sandwiches were about $13 for adults. Also, don't expect to be offered Pepsi or Coke products, as they have their own brand of soft drinks. You'll have a choice of root beer, cream soda, or their brand of what the server said equated to Dr. Pepper. Brunch ended up costing $55, but it didn't seem worth that amount to me. The service was okay, but could've been a lot better as well. We never even got a drink refill. I don't see myself returning.

I thought the service was excellent. It has different fare...and they pride themselves on fresh ingredients and using as many local growers as possible. I've been twice, and I would certainly go again.

My boyfriend took me here last friday for dinner. I recently worked at a farm-to-fork organic restaurant in Illinois so this place made me feel right at home. I honestly can't say enough great things about this place, everything about it blew me away. I can really appreciate fresh, house-made food that a lot of love and time goes into. I had a little rye lies to drink, and it was awesome. Its been a minute since I've had a well-made whiskey cocktail and it really hit the spot. We split the shishito peppers for an appetizer and those were great. Im used to them having a little more bite to them (being a little less cooked) but nonetheless, they had great flavor. I had the pork brisket with sweet corn grits, kale/greens and pear. My boyfriend had the tri-tip steak with mushrooms and brussel sprouts with fried ham. We both LOVED our food. He is a very very picky eater and was hesitant about his order (he doesn't even like mushrooms, or brussel sprouts) but he ate every bite of it and then had some of mine as well. We finished off our meal with the whiskey cake even though we were already stuffed. And i must say it was the best decision, that cake was possibly the best cake i have ever had. I would go back just for a piece of cake! The thing about farm-to fork restaurants is that often times you may feel uncomfortable trying something you've never heard of, or the menu may not sell you, which in our case was true. The menu, though nicely designed, didn't really make anything jump out at us. But when you're dining at a restaurant like this one, you need to trust that they know what they're doing and just go with something new and exciting. And most often you won't be disappointed. I never knew brussel sprouts could be so delicious. The biggest help during our meal was our server, Chris. Having worked in the service industry myself, I really appreciate when servers know what they're doing and can answers all of your questions right away. Chris also suggestively sold us on pretty much everything we ordered. His opinions really helped and he was extremely attentive. I honestly could not have been more pleased with our experience. It was amazing, and we will definitely be back for more. If I were going to be in town longer than a few months I would definitely try to be a part of this team. It seems like a great place, with great people, awesome atmosphere and the best part about it they are working together for a GREAT cause. Everyone should eat farm-to-fork, know where your food is coming from and appreciate the flavor profiles exemplified in truly healthy food. I would recommend this place to anyone.

What an unexpected surprise. In what seems to be just another up and coming chain (I hate them....yeah you CHILI'S!) I must say this is a fresh departure from the norm. The service is good. The decor hip. The food great! We had the charred peppers...the best I've had outside of Spain! Hummus was very good. The burger was ridiculous! The mixed drinks were great. Then the whiskey cake. Nice!! I look forward to returning

Disclaimer: I was invited to a preview night before the doors open to the public. My review is based solely on the food and the decor of the restaurant. The service was good, but they were still learning the ropes so I can't (and won't) review them on that. Whiskey Cakes Kitchen & Bar in OKC is the second restaurant of its kind (the first one is in Plano, TX). They pride themselves on using only local ingredients and reusing and retooling old items (like bolts as napkin holders or egg crates on the ceiling to muffle sound) and such. The decor is a mix of a classic farm vibe mixed with a house on the waterfront. Lots of wood and steel. The staff are all dress up attire that looks to be a hip, modern newsies-boys style. They have plenty of TVs to watch the games. All the major Oklahoma brewed beers are on tap. They even have wine on tap. I got to try the wabbit smash which was a carrot juice alcohol drink - I now know what Bugs Bunny was making all those years, and it is delicious. We got to take a tour and see where they are growing some of the herbs, spices, vegetables and fruit. That may be a first for me to see a restaurant do something like that. Each table had their meals pre-selected at random so the food I ate was something I probably would have not ordered, but am glad I was made to taste. The highlight for me was the corned beef and caramelized fontina, it was a very wellnput-together sandwich. I liked the mix of corned beef and coleslaw together. My second favorite was the chicken fried quail with potato salad - this was a different take on the quail I've had in the past. The quail was great, but I enjoyed the chilled marble potato salad in a deviled egg sauce that came with it more. Of course I had to try the famous whiskey cake. It was delicious, with a hard crunchy top, a very moist center and a whiskey-type sauce around it. The low point, if there was one, was that it was somewhat hard to read the menu due to the dim lighting. Also I did not care much for the pork belly ramen - it just had too much going on in it. Overall, a great experience. I really do like that they are only working with Oklahoma locals for their food supplies. I was told that they will have a list for every vendor they use. I can definitely see this place being the hot spot for a very long time.

Amazing dinner. Had the chicken sandwich and it was so flavorful and the bacon was thick and peppery. My friend got the regular cheeseburger and seems quite satified. The portions are huge and I would say a great deal for the price. We both had enough to take home for another full meal. I would recommend definitely getting the whiskey cake for dessert.. How could you not! This was also big enough to share and comes with a large bowl of homemade whipped cream that is to die for. There does seem to be a fly problem on the patio, that would be my only complaint and why I only rated a 4 instead of 5. Next time I will just sit inside! And, as a side note that I found completely annoying but will not subtract any points for is that there seems to be no real space to sit and wait while you are waiting for your table. There was a couch but it was awkwardly located across from dining tables and it felt like you were staring at the people eating. Also, apparently the tall tables are open seating, which we only found out once a hostess told another couple. (Our hostess neglected to tell us anything about that.. Which was completely annoying to say the least as there were 2 seats open at one of the tables and the couple that walked in behind us sat there before we even knew it was an option.) Overall we had a great experience on the food end of things, which is good enough for me.

After a really messy mistake on the staffs part - spoke with GM Tanner and set things straight, it was not the normal experience I have had there before and was an unfortunate mishap. Will be back again knowing the GM really cares about how the restaurant is ran when he is not there!

Have you ever been reintroduced to something that you had previously tossed to the wayside? And you realized that you had been living your whole life without this one thing and when you finally realized how great it was you wondered why you had been living without it all these years? For me, that's basil. I want to put basil on everything. On sandwiches, salads, in drinks, eat it on its own. I'm addicted to basil and I don't care who knows it. When I saw that Whiskey Cake had a drink with basil, cucumber, gin and lime, I had to try it. Called Tracy's Garden, this drink will run you about $8 but satisfy you for a lifetime. We got to Whiskey Cake on a Thursday night and there was about a 30 minute wait. I told the waitress my phone number so she could text me when my table was ready (!) and my roommate and I headed to the bar area for a pre dinner cocktail. I ordered a mint julep and she ordered the french wit. I wanted Tracy's Garden, but I figured I had to drink whiskey in a place with whiskey in the name. The drinks were great, but what was even greater was the way they were made. With fancy, adult, bartender tools and aggressively and with giant blocks of ice. We finally got the text (!) that our table was ready and we sat down. I ordered the magical elixir of basil and wonderful called the Tracy's Garden and the Lamb Dip. I'm actually not sure what I thought it was going to be but I did not think a sandwich. I thought of maybe some chopped lamb in a sauce with baguettes for dipping. Nonetheless it was a great sandwich. Not excellent. The real stars here were the drinks. Our service was great, although maybe a little fast for my liking. I like my meals to be slow, but our food came out before our second round of drinks. Once I got inside I could tell it was a chain, trying to masquerade as a local joint. It was way too fast and streamlined to be local. I liked this place. I like basil. I will try to recreate this drink on multiple occasions. The food wasn't my favorite, but I would be willing to try something different another day.

We were big fans of their Plano, Texas restaurant. Good restaurant, we are beyond excited that they came to Oklahoma City, it is very good for our city. The standards are fantastic, the food is good - the service as it relates to management and seating is good but at the table is average or below that. Seems like a bunch of kids running the tables and it was their first day. So let's cut them some slack as they get all trained on the menu and service, etc... The concept of healthy eating farm to fork is excellent, the wine list is short - but some good cabs by the glass at a very reasonable price. Enjoy the eating there - adds excellent variety to our city.

Oh my! I was blown away. Let's begin with a short wait which was enjoyed at the bar. After I was settled in, I began to look around and adore the rustic decor and wait staff uniforms (the men's look a little Mumford & Sons influenced, but I'm not complaining about suspenders). Ok, the menu was a tad strange at first, but if you're smart you pick up on it quick (clearly that's not a problem, someone was smart in your party to suggest this place). I love breakfast at random times throughout the day, so naturally I enjoyed the Farmer's Breakfast from the brunch menu. Eggs were perfect. Bacon was perfect. Tater Tots were on my plate!!!!! I was in heaven. My family loves to sample so with that in mind, we were all blown away by each other's dishes. Of course we asked about the Whiskey Cake and after the waitress's description we decided two would be the magic number. But no...we should have ordered the entire stock! It was AMAZING! It was even served with freshly whipped cream. My mind was blown! The prices aren't ridiculous and everything that we tried was well worth it. I did some research before we headed there. Apparently this is the second restaurant for this chain- to -be. Well, I sure hope they are able to spread nationwide! Basically I'm trying to tell you that WHEN (not if) you decide to go here....call me and I'll join you!

This is my second time here. The food has always been satisfying, once it arrives. The first time I came it was during lunch, and my friend barely had time to get back to work. On my visit tonight, I had to wait ten minutes for my first cocktail, fifteen for the second time. For farm to fork, go to Ludivine. If you're a fan of wasting time, come here. They are clearly understaffed.

The manager told me they do not have frozen food items and everything is fresh and local as much as possible. The food has tasted as such every time we have eaten here! The bar tenders have been very attentive with beverages and food. Sunday brunch is our favorite on the patio.

My husband, me and two small children really enjoyed this place! We didn't know this until we sat down, but all the food on their menu comes from local farmers in Oklahoma. We thought that was so neat! Fried green tomatoes were so good that my husband ordered another round. My hubs let our waiter pick his entree, which turned out to be the pork brisket with cheese grits. It was the bomb. I had the turkey chili and the house salad, which were both very good. My daughter's kid mac and cheese was delicious. My son's kid chicken strips were very good as well. I got them green beans and french fries on the side which were both tasty. Clean, fun, very creative ambiance. Our waiter was Chris and did a great job. Our bill was $100 and worth it in our opinion. Overall, wonderful experience. We will return with our friends from out of town in the very near future!

I wanted to order everything on the menu! They have some of the most unique, and delicious, twists on classic ingredients. There is something for everyone. The food is good and the ambience is perfect for a date. The service was very friendly and they were only too happy to give you a detailed account of their entrees. Also, the whiskey cake...mhm, good.

Food was very good, drinks and selection were great. Kirk was a great bartender and made several good recommendations, other than being out of the cask ipa it was a very good meal and evening. PS I hate chain restaurants and still this place is a good solid restaurant

Pretty darned good! We were in town (six of us) staying at the hotel nearby and decided on this place as we wanted a few drinks and some grub. We were pleasantly surprised. Cool vibe and down-to-earth prices. Loved the outdoor area with the hanging chairs and the fire places. Cool to hang out on with a drink while waiting for a table when the weather is nice (like tonight). The drink menu is inventive and the bartenders are very friendly and make a great drink. Our waiter was attentive and "just enough" so five stars there. Decent selection to choose from including some great wines on tap (it's a new thing - but it works and makes sense). Great beer selection, too. Oh, and if you are into it they have many many types of whisky (not our thing). The salmon was very good (I'm told by 3 of our group - I don't eat salmon) as was my OMG burger. If I had one of these close to home I'd frequent it quite often. Would return for sure.

Trey was our server, he did a grey job. We shared the shrimp salad. It was wonderful. The pork was great- cooked to perfection. I had the duck it was also great ( not a large portion- but certainly enough for me). We both had the grits which were great. We could not resist the whiskey cake. it was incredible- and I am a baker and appreciate good desserts. Make a reservation- it gets crowded.

Went last Sat. with a beautiful date. I got the chicken and cheese melt which was amazing and my fiancé got the salmon, which was also amazing. The service was fantastic and the decor was cute. The French dip and kettle chips were great as well! If you're looking for different then you've gone to the right place!

Despite my love of their food, I can't come back to Whisky Cake out of fear that I will succumb to my urges and eat their namesake dessert. The actual whisky cake might be the best piece of cake I have ever eaten.

This place is amazing. My wife and I went on a Friday night around 7. They were busy, but even in the waiting area one of the staff ask for a drink order. A beer sure helps the hunger pangs because the food looked incredible. As novice foodies, there wasn't much on the menu that didn't peak our curiosity. We ended up getting an out-of-this-world great server. Beyond friendly, helpful, and just all around pleasant (sorry I forgot his name). He helped my wife pick the Beetlejuice and the duck wings for our appetizer... Unbelievably delicious. I got the Tri tips with grilled peaches and the wife had the free range chicken with green beans. Of course, delicious. The beers are also top notch, I wish I could give this place 6 stars.

I've been here a couple of times and been pretty satisfied. Both times, we have dined in the bar area. The staff has been pretty helpful and friendly. The last time our server was near the end of her shift, so we felt a little rushed. As for food, I've only tried appetizers, so I can speak on what I know for sure... - Fried green tomatoes = Love them! I could eat an order (or two) of these daily ;) - Thai barbecue duck wings = Amazing! You just have to try them to understand ... Side note - Kettle chips = not on the list to try again. Maybe we had a not so fresh batch ?... Whiskey Cake is definitely on the "will return to" list. They are open late daily, so that's another plus for late-nighters. If the entrees are anything like the appetizers, this would change my rating to 4 stars

Let me start off by saying, I dont give out 5 star reviews often - I don't often have as good as it gets experiences but the other night at Whiskey Cake was amazing! First of all, I'm traveling for work and dining solo so I look for a place where I can sit at the bar and have a nice experience. FRom the moment I walked in, I loved the decor - its very comfortable but also cool and modern - they have a great drink menu and if you love whiskey this is the spot for you! I enjoyed a chicken sandwhich with avocado and bacon and cheesey goodness on sourdough - it was reasonably priced, HUGE, and sooo darn good I didnt want to put it down. Since I was having a hard time deciding which of the local craft brews I'd like to wash it down with, the awesome bartender gave me samples of 3 of them before I was able to find an awesome Coop beer. The manager came over to talk beer with me as well and I might just have a new trade buddy out of the meal. All in all, this place is nothing short of amazing and I would recommend the experience to anyone - whether traveling alone or dining with friends/family. Thanks Whiskey Cake!

Very impressed with this place! Loved everything about it. A bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. We had fried green tomatoes, Sirloins, Whiskey Cake desert, and Pomalos(?) to drink. Everything was delicious and the presentation was great! The atmosphere and décor also contributed to the experience. Service was excellent! Highly recommend!

My husband and I ate here twice in 3 days. Once for a weekday lunch, the other for a Saturday brunch. The food is amazing. We had the pork brisket w poblano grits, and the corned beef sandwich along w the whiskey cake for dessert. For brunch we had the chicken and waffles and eggs Benedict. Everything, and I mean everything was heavenly. The poblano grits were so delicious. Everything appeared to be scratch made. The chicken and waffles was the best I've ever had. Anywhere. We were only in OKC for 2 weeks, and this place will forever hold a place in our bellies.

I am a fan of whiskey cake. The food is always good and several things on the menu are great. The drinks and atmosphere are nice too. Why only 3 stars? When they first opened they didn't take reservations. Now they do and I live that fact. The problem? They know how to take the reservation, they just don't know how to hold the reservation. My family made a reservation for us and a friend visiting from out if town. We show up 5 minutes before the reservation and my wife checks in. While we wait she even goes back to let them know how many kids menus etc. Then we wait, and wait. We watch other parties go before us. I am getting upset. 20 minutes after the reservation I decide to ask how much longer. I am then told that we were marked as a no show and pushed back 30 minutes. What the heck! We checked in several times with them and even stood in eyeshot if the many hostesses. The one good thing is once they realized their mistake they sat us immediately. I was disappointed in this experience. Hopefully it will be better next time.

The whiskey cake is to die for. My party was asking for cakes to bring home. Everything we ordered was cooked well and had great flavor. Cool atmosphere with an eclectic style. You can tell this is the kind of place to be "seen". But the concept of farm to table is executed well. If you haven't tried this place out, give it a go.

This place was awful, first the decor was so busy and jumbled it looked messy. I think they were going for rustic contemporary, but they drastically failed. Second the food was plated very plainly with out much garnish or thought to the way the dishes looked, and the food lacked in all aspects of taste and quality. I ordered the lobster roll and I literally had to force the sandwich down. It was bland tasteless and quiet frankly and abomination to seafood. The rest of the menu is remedial at best. If simplicity and no talent was the goal then they hit their mark. The only thing remotely close to an acceptable item on the menu were the chips and even they weren't great, just ok. Additionally the waitstaff, hostess, and bar staff looked dirty and un professional. You could not pay me to return there.

Visiting from out of town on business, I was looking for an affordable dinner that is a cut or two above the typical dinner restaurant in OKC. A fitness devotee, I also desired a healthful meal with a tasty, good sized protein portion for not a lot of money. I was not disappointed! I had the salmon, and it was outstanding. I'm from California and I expect a lot from a restaurant salmon meal, and would not have ordered that here, but it came with the waitress' strong recommendation so I tried it. My salmon was a generous portion, just the right size portion (around 7 oz), and cooked to perfection, perfectly tender inside with a nice light crisp on the outside. The sauce was flawless. Including a side (I splurged and got the Mac 'n Cheese) and a generously poured glass of wine, this wonderful meal set me back only about $30. Very impressive! Oh, and from the time I ordered to the time my food arrived, I estimated at 7 minutes. 7 minutes and a perfect meal was in front of me! I have a busy schedule and was in, out and well-fed in no time. I will definitely be back here on my next visit. If not sooner.

Good food, good atmosphere, friendly staff. A little pricey, but good for the occasional visit. My friend had the OMG burger and it lived up to its name. My dish was a bit bland but still tasty. We also had the white chocolate cranberry cheesecake and it was awesome. My first visit I had the thai barbeque duck wings and they were delish. They have a decent beer menu and do wine flights as well. Overall I would recommend as long as your ok with a bit higher bill.

Pretty good food super fresh ! Lots of interesting choices on the menu to choose from! Mac and cheese was awesome ! Give it a try a lot different than most restaurants in Okc! The staff takes a lot of time to explain why they are different and make you understand their concept. Give it a try !

Several members of my family ... 28 was the final number ... came here last Saturday for a late lunch. The food was excellent, and the staff (I wish I remembered their names) went above and beyond to continually accommodate us. Thoroughly enjoyed the Three Little Pigs, and the goat cheese fondue. Fabulous experience. I will definitely come here again next time I am in OKC.

The food was very fresh and tasty. Had the homemade chips and onion dip as an appetizer. Ordered the tri tip as the main course. Very flavorful. Only ate 1/2 so I could save room for the infamous whiskey cake. I was not so impressed with that. It was good just not over the top. The service was outstanding. The ambience was great. The parking sucks. I would also rate it as $$$ on the cost scale.

Service was excellent. Our server, Cameron, was very knowledgeable about the menu and the food preparation, which is important given my family's diet restrictions. He was sensitive and attentive to the nut allergy situation and went out of his way to make us comfortable. I had the OMG burger, which would have tasted better if the mustard was less spicy. The fries were good and should come standard with hamburgers and stackers in place of kettle chips (although the kettle chips are good in their own right). Restaurant makes a big deal about local farm to fork. They try to source their ingredients from local farmers within a 50 mile radius of the restautant. They recommend that you examine the chalkboard next to the bar to see the source of their produce, meats and other ingredients. Sounded great, because this is an important philosophy in our home - shop local and eat local. So after we finished our dinner we went to examine the board. We were very disappointed so find that none of the beef or pork was listed. In the middle of Oklahoma and can't find local ranchers to provide local beef and pork? The local farm to fork is a big movement and is gaining momentum in certain progressive communities. My hope is that Whiskey Cake isn't trying to capitalize on this movement in form over substance. I hope this restaurant is going beyond surface appearance, because our visit seemed to indicate otherwise. Would have given 5 stars but am having serious doubts about the sincerity of their farm to fork claims...marketing ploy, perhaps? I sure hope not.

It's... fine. It is a chain, and it FEELS like a chain, despite how hard Whiskey Cake tries to sell its "keep it local" image. Our (very charming) waiter explained the restaurant's green tendencies (recycled cardboard coasters and a garden that could in no way adequately support a kitchen that size) and cocktail menu. But all I'm saying is that if you're really concerned about keeping it green, then don't use filament bulbs or tchotchkes on the table that were probably made in China. Or have your giant building in a mall parking lot. I loathe using the word "hipster" to describe anything, but Whiskey Cake is totally like Cheddar's dressed as a hipster for Halloween. Or one of those clique-insensitive spirit days in junior high. All of that eye-rolling-ness aside, I do like the variety and content of the menu. I had the chicken-fried quail, which was great and cooked perfectly, though I could have done without the flavorless deviled egg goo smeared on the plate. Potato salad was a little mealy and without much flavor also. I sampled the ahi tuna salad, which was crazy reasonably priced for the amount of fresh tuna, and the honey mustard dressing was also good. I didn't have a specialty cocktail off their kitschy menu, which I assume is supposed to be the selling point of the whole establishment, but I'm sure they're fine. All in all, this is more of a restaurant you take your sort-of cool parents to if you're all super hungry. Maybe the theme / style of this place hit a little too close to home, but it's odd to see something corporate co-opt a style that's barely made a legitimate mark in OKC.

I have loved everything I've ordered from their menu! I really think that farm-to-table makes a tasty difference. This place has a little something for everyone. I've seen well dressed, flip flops, loners, and big parties. There's a bar with all sorts of adult beverages (including wine from the cask). They don't carry coca-cola or Pepsi, but they do have some pretty delicious soda. Brunch starts at 10am saturday and sunday. So far my favorite brunch selection is the switch up French toast. This French toast is like a fresh crispy cream doughnut only it's top with the chefs choice of fresh fruit topping. I've also tried the chicken and waffles. It's how chicken and waffles should be, NOT just a couple pieces of fried chicken next to some waffles. You'll just have to try it. Favorite sandwich = the lamb dip. Wow! So good... Very tender and all of the flavors go so well together. Favorite entree = the smoked duck. This is an amazing dish. The smoked flavor is the perfect earthy compliment to this tender bird. As I said, I love everything I've tried on whiskey cakes menu, these were just the favorite picks. Be sure to taste and believe for yourself. Also, eat the whiskey cake with whipped cream.

First let me say we were big fans of the Elephant Bar when it was at this location. We went with another couple on a Saturday night. The wait was 45 min and then when we got seated the waiter seemed more preoccupied in taking care of a huge party next to us that was getting close to leaving than he was taking care of us. He told us that they served fresh food & used vegis from their garden. We saw the small square garden during our 45 min. wait & there was hardly any vegis in it besides a bunch of herbs & cherry tomatoes. $12 for a hamburger seems insane so I got pork loin & the broccoli avocado slaw. The slaw seemed store bought with 1 piece of avocado added to it. My husband's chicken was tiny & sat on a small spoonful of cooked spinach. The bar had limited cocktails, all either bourbon or whiskey. We were informed the Sprite our daughter was drinking didn't come with free refills since they serve it from a can! We won't go back - overpriced, nothing special about the food, poor service. Salt water taffy at the front door was the best part.

The servers are extremely personable! Which means you might have to wait a little longer but it's worth the attention that you'll get. The food is great and a refreshing change from all the generic steakhouses around okc. They even grow their own herbs on site! The cocktails are excellent and the whiskey cake is a must have. We had a great time and will be sure to be back next time we find ourselves in okc.

I was so excited to try this place after being told how it was going to change my life. I love the "farm to table" style and keeping as much local as possible. Went on lunch with a colleague and chose to sit outside and enjoy the weather. She ordered the burger and I ordered the chicken meatballs with a side of the fries. After telling the waiter we were our lunch break it still seemed to take longer than normal. My meatballs were cold, not just not hot but actually cold, and it took a few minutes for the waiter to come back and check on us. He said they take the longest to cook of anything on the menu so he wasn't sure how quickly he could get me more out. Which was nice to know they weren't just going to microwave my original order. I said that was fine, I would just take them to go when they were done. The fries were good, no complaints there, though having them for lunch was not my plan. I asked how the burger was, "tasteless", never a good description for a burger. The patty was good sized but completely unseasoned, so were the chips that came with. My to go meatballs were good which I finally got to eat them at my desk, the sauce was hearty and had a good flavor, the meatballs were moist and had a good texture. Sigh. I will give this place another shot because I like the idea of the place, but not a great feeling to start off with.

Really good food. A bit pricey but for the actual Whiskey Cake desert totally worth it. I can see the wife and I going back for a drink and desert. The drinks are all from scratch and made in the old school way. The mixologist really does a great job.

I had the Thai Duck Wings (Outstanding!) even the side sauce was great! Lamb Dip (Outstanding) with homemade chips and their Whiskey Cake (Outstanding!) - (Add extra whip cream to every bite. Everything was AMAZING!! Coming back for sure!!

It is a cool and different atmosphere, but the whole place is just a little too hip for my taste. My BBQ pork sandwich was good but a tad spicier then I prefer. Service was fine and the place was pretty relaxing. Everything seemed to be about 30% higher then it should be. Overall I liked it, but it probably won't be a place I frequent. I will admit, the whiskey cake was pretty tasty.

Had lunch on 5/28 at the suggestion of some friends. Not really into chain restaurants, especially at the mall, so the recommendation from friends was necessary for me to try the place. Not really a local feel inside, but has a neat format and very vibrant, even at lunch. Service was very good and the menu contained many selections, but wasn't overwhelming with too much. I like the local, sustainable, farm to market, open kitchen concept. Our table had sandwiches, soup, and salads, and we shared tastes of each. Everything was well prepared and presented. One whiskey cake was shared at the table and was incredible. Glad that i went, and will definitely return.

Service is terrible. It took over 30 minutes to get a drink from the bar. No sense of urgency or feeling that anyone cared for the customers. Menu is different but the service ruined it for me. It took almost 2 hrs to have one drink and a burger.

It was still a soft opening but all good from what I tried. Stopped by for a late dinner (kitchen closes at 10pm). The former Elephant Bar Restaurant is almost unrecognizable. I love this farm to table/rustic concept. Be sure to check out the "local" board. The deviled eggs appetizer are made from fresh, local ingredients and change weekly. This week's feature included pickled onions and chives. I had the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer and it was a very generous portion. I've been hoping/wishing/praying for a restaurant to serve ramen bowls and was surprised to see pork belly ramen on the menu. It didn't seem to fit the restaurant theme, but I ordered anyways. The pork belly was very tender and delicious. The broth was too salty for my taste though. This light dish justified two desserts for me :) Of course, the whiskey cake was AMAZING. Also, the scratch dessert was plumberry pie served with a side of ROXY'S pistachio ice cream. The pie was tart but balanced well with the ice cream. If you're a fan of ginger beer/mules - try the drink "foul coursair" - I really liked it. Service was very friendly and attentive - will definitely come back! There's a nice patio with outdoor fireplace as well that I can't wait to return and try with a group of friends.

Pleasantly surprised! The good- easy to make reservation for large group for Sunday brunch, fried green tomatoes, coffee (yes, worth mentioning), biscuits, whiskey cake. I was full from appetizers so didn't order but had bite of families and loved French toast and chicken... Yum! One negative was the Bloody Mary. It just wasn't good at all and yes I made it myself at the "bloody Mary bar" but seemed watered down. Very very friendly staff! Can't wait to go back to try more!!

How does one describe Whiskey Cake (other than way better than Elephant Bar and Grill)? If Ludivine and Packard's had a chain restaurant baby, this is it. You walk in, and the hipster/farm to market vibe is on full. The atmosphere is very fresh, and as stated before, I felt as though I was at Ludivine and Packard's (less awesome patio) at the exact same time. It is kind of awkward if you're waiting, with little places to sit, and quite a block of the entrance. Once you get seated, the place is extremely pleasant and sure to generate the we should put one of those lamps in our house type of convo of events that will never happen. Ordered a water, aptly arrived in the Packard's glass bottle, as well as the BBQ Bahn Mi sandwich with a side of "Adult" Mac n Cheese. Upon the meals descent, my first thought, here we go with the wood board plate. On behalf of all slightly messy eaters out there (yes I am one of them), lets abolish the wood board plate. Without defined edges or the slight bevel towards the inside of a plate, things can just get down right messy. The wood doesn't bring out flavor. It's just a pain. However given I ate like a pig, it fit in with the farm to market vibe. The sandwich ended up being half good, and half what in the world just went into my mouth. The pork / sauce / jalapeños / bread, all delicious. Right amount of heat, sweet and insert some other adjective I cant think of at the moment. The bun is loaded with straight off the branch cilantro, which is the closest experience you will find to that of a Giraffe munching on the upper portions of a tree on the Serengeti's of Oklahoma. Reminder, no matter how fresh or nice, some veggies need to diced. 100% reminder of the Wedge's Itallion Stallion, that is pretty tasty, but has the weird hairball texture herb on top, that makes you go what did I just eat? Also included is a truckload of "tangy vegetables", 75% of which are immediately removed therefrom (Jimmy John's lettuce syndrome). See the above complaint regarding wood board plates, things are getting messy. Sure I love vegetables, but I ordered a BBQ sandwich, not a boatload of veggies with some meat on the very bottom. Still had a positive 'wich experience, yet will not be ordering it again (wait what?). Please note: the entrée comes with chips for a side. These are quite good, but have you ever had terrible house chips (sans Arby's). The others listed are extra. Of course, had to test the "Adult" Mac N Cheese, loaded with bread crumbs, bacon, and an interesting cheese mix, its pretty unique. Still confused by the "Adult" label, as I would have downed this as a kid too. It's Mac N Cheese. Not the best in the city (Picasso Café) but very ahead of the worst (R.I.P. Coaches). Also had the opportunity to taste the Parmesan French Fries, screaming "Why cant you just make something normal hipster place." As you may have already put together, there is no place for Parmesan on French Fries. It adds no taste, more calories, and cost more to prepare. Just an ample, ohhh that sounds interesting lets try it, followed by a full frontal slap from your taste buds reminding you how much a fool you were for thinking those two had a significant mixture. Lastly for dessert, ordered the Whiskey Cake. Unlike it's predecessor Whiskey Chicks, this place does have an entrée with the restaurants namesake and given this is my first time at the place, why wouldn't I order the dessert named after the restaurant, it has too be good and I'm dining out, and I want a dessert so bring me the Whiskey Cake (my thought process exactly). This paragraph seems steered in a negative tone, lets reverse that. The Cake is bomb. If you were the one going "no way I'm ordering the Whiskey Cake, I'm no dummy, I wont fall for touristy-chain-gimmick entrée 101", you were the dummy. Topped with (what I presume is) freshly churned whipped cream this morning from the Arbuckle Mountains, and candied pecans, desserts really don't get much more delicious than the Whiskey Cake. Not too heavy, not too light, just really good. Don't let the three star review fool you, I will be heading back to Whiskey Cake due to the large amount of other menu items that sound pretty darn good, accompanied with the fresh atmosphere.....and ummm that dessert / its the only place where you can be at Ludivine and Packard's at the same time. Worth a shot.

My wife and I ate dinner at Whisky Cake last night and, even though the waitstaff were very busy, we received prompt and courteous service. Tamara, our waiter, was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu offerings and eager to provide answers to any questions we had about the menu items. My wife ordered the Salmon which she said was the best she had ever tasted and I had an equally positive opinion of the chicken sandwich with bacon, Havarti cheese and a generous layer of fresh garden produce. We shared a generous serving of the Whiskey Cake for desert and it was delicious. Yes, the prices were a bit higher than some but, hey, good stuff costs a little more. To sum it up, we had a very nice experience, we will return, and I would recommend Whiskey Cake to anyone looking for a delicious meal at a comparatively appropriate price.

We came for a visit from phoenix az and this place was fantastic. Service was good. I reccomend the fried green tomatos. They were unlike any others ive had and they were delicious. The atmosphere here is great, the decor is really cool and the food is all excellent. The drink menu is exotic and different and i was very happy with all the drinks we tried.

Party of 4 who ordered a variety of items including 2 appetizers. Everything was great. Appetizers were deviled eggs with trout salad topping (similar to tuna salad in texture) and fried green tomatoes. Main course of corned beef melt, omg burger, basic burger and chicken & cheese melt. Dessert was the namesake Whiskey Cake with whipped cream. Excellent food and service!! Will definitely be going back and referring friends.

OMG! I haven't had food this good in a long time. I was there with a group of 7 friends. The drinks were amazing, the service was perfect (our waitress was super helpful with suggestions that were all spot on) and THE FOOD!!! I couldn't believe I was in OKC. We all shared fried green tomatoes and caramelized onion dip. My friend and I split the beet salad and the mushroom burger--seriously the best food I have had since Underbelly in Houston. Whiskey Cake--they name the restaurant after it for a reason--Holy Cow!

I have been to Whiskey Cake three times and they hit a home-run every time. The drinks are incredible, the service is fantastic and the food is delicious. My favorite entree thus far is the salmon. It was cooked to perfection and had a delicious, smokey flavor. The patio is so nice I forget I am sitting in the parking lot of Penn Square. I questioned the placement at first because it seems as if a place like this should be in the Plaza District or Midtown, but I am thrilled to have an option like this a little further north and I will be a regular.

Our server, Amy, was AMAZING. She went out of her way to make sure we had a good time and even dealt with my cranky dad with humor and grace. The decor was really cool, although the sinks in the bathrooms are really high and kind of a pain to use. The food was good, not awesome, though I love the concept.

Killer drinks, killer food, great atmosphere. And even better service. I ate at whiskey cake a couple of weeks ago w/ my girlfriend and a good buddy. We all tried different cocktails (and a cold beer). Drinks were awesome. I can't remember the name of what I had, but it quenched a mighty thirst on a hot Oklahoma day. I had the pulled pork eggs benedict. It was a great combination that I hadn't had before. I dig the place and will be back for sure. Definitely recommended.

Went during Lunch on a Tuesday. I was a big fan of the restaurant that existed here before (the elephant bar) and expected this to be 'just another chain'. I was looking for a place to take my mother while she was in town and went via yelp recommendation- not unsatisfied with this! :) Upon entrance it seemed like a Cracker Barrel and a Chili's had a baby- the little farm outside (strawberries, garlic, and a few other/small easy-to-grow things in the crates opposite the patio), a few custom cruiser bikes parked on the rack out front - I own a one-speed and I do not believe ANYONE rode those here on the highway or anywhere near the mall, if so, kudos to whatever staff or patron did so without getting them dirty! The food at atmosphere inside however... a nice hickory-sweet smell upon entrance and a large chalkboard with a list of sources- it is nice to recognize where the coffee and cheese is coming from- and although we did not order these for lunch I am seeing cocktails that intrigue so they will be something to try with the hubby. The fried green tomatoes were my favorite thing. The sauce has a nice kick and the breading was light and crispy, not super greasy or mealy, and the tomatoes fresh and hot. We also got a veggie (edamame and mushroom) burger and a crispy chicken salad. I think the salad was supposed to come with nuts (pecans?) on it but they were not there. The greens were perfect with a great ratio of other toppings: cheese, dressing, apples. The burger was good but mom said she could not taste the tzatziki and requested more. When more was brought I took a taste of it alone and it just tasted super creamy like it may have absorbed with other flavors (personal opinion there, meh) We split a bit of cake to go. Extremely rich and tiny for $8 but you won't want more or you will want to unbutton something or seek bypass surgeons... it comes with a big bowl of cream. Only reason this has less stars in the rating than I want to give it is because we didn't get five minutes straight alone to eat. We got an elevator speech from our waitress about the restaurant's "concept" which we could SEE with all our senses clearly from a well-branded exterior and interior... even down to the construction of the bar and menu. This felt a tad disrespectful, like we were being told what to think and eat. Every time I tried to get on the wifi I felt the shoulder of a manager looking over me to see what bit of food I wanted to blog or what i wanted to say.... and I did go on Facebook and mention we barely got a chance to taste the food because of an overage of check-backs to our table.... 3 during our appetizer, 2 during the entree before we even took a bite. Also the waitress knew I wanted to photograph the food so when we asked for the cake to go she presented it on a plate saying "this is just easier" making it harder for it to be boxed up in the end, and more work for the bussers with extra dishes for nothing. Oh yeah... for readers who think I am horrible for bringing up the small stuff, we still tipped big because she was supersweet the whole time and very knowledgable about the product, and not responsible for all of our checkbacks (I don't know who some of those people were? did a guest keep looking at our food?). So amazing food... but our experience was overshadowed by publicity hounding, even when we were trying to say "hey this is good!" Oh yeah... during lunch the wifi was just like being on a farm so it is consistent with the concept ;)

I went for brunch with the girls. I had the chicken & waffles. The bacon waffle itself was good. The chicken that goes on top are two small chicken tenders. I barely had any gravy with it. I had to ask for syrup. I also got their whiskey cake & its really ,really, really sweet & that is coming from someone who loves sweets...too sweet for me. The atmosphere was nice. I didn't hate it but I doubt I will eat here again.

This was an extremely pleasant experience. Callie was an excellent waitress. The portion sizes were perfect, unlike most Oklahoma restaurants were you need to box at least half of your meal. The prices were right where they need to be. The selection of scotch/whiskey/bourbon is amazing. Although they need to update their list since some items are not available. The best part was that Scott, the manager, took the time to talk to us and made us feel like new found family members. The menu is not the usual oklahoma fair, but if you are willing to try new and different items, well worth the visit. We WILL be back.

While at a business training meeting, a local person told us about this restaurant. I checked out the reviews and we decided to give it a go. So glad we did! I'm generally a wine drinker but I followed the recommendation of previous reviewers and ventured into the cocktail side and had a drink called Tracy's Garden. I didn't know if I liked Gin but the waiter convinced me to try it after he described the cucumber, basil and lime. It was awesome! We started out with fried green tomatoes. Great choice again. I had the roasted lamb dip and my coworker had the roasted chicken melt. Both wise choices. The decor and ambience was striking, unusual and pleasant. Each dish was creatively presented. Loved the freshness of all the ingredients. It was fun to see the herb garden growing outside and to see they had it protected from being handled by strangers. Definitely will be returning next time I'm in OKC!

If you love weird gamey animals, this is the place for you. If you are a vegetarian...not so much. The only thing they had for me to eat was the lobster roll, which was okay but not really what I was in the mood for. NOT vegetarian approved. Also, it was very loud in the restaurant and the service was super slow. We waited 25 minutes for the waitress to bring our credit card back. They also do not have a good drink menu. Mostly just beers.

Love this place. The only disappointment was the quinoa which was overcooked. They need to get that right - quinoa should be crunchy. The friend green tomatoes were outstanding and the cocktails innovative and yummy as well as refreshing on a hot summer day. Service is great. Enjoyo!

Great place! Normally I stay far, far away from chains but since this 'chain' has only two locations thus far, am giving it a break and I'm glad I did! The fried green tomatoes are terrific! Many beers on tap, including some local ones, but unfortunately local brews aren't identified on the menu. Ask your server! The server we had was very informative. The bar looks very cool; did not order any mixed drinks but just from looking I think a job as a bartender here would be fun! I had the turkey melt, which tasted great but unfortunately the presentation was a bit bland. Also had the mac & cheese, which I can recommend! Husband had the 'OMG Burger'. It looked great and he says tasted great but was difficult to eat because it was so tall! The potato wedges were good but unfortunately were served with a mustard/dill sauce that didn't seem to fit. The whiskey cake is terrific! Save room; I only ate half of the my sandwich (the other half made a great lunch the next day) in order to have some. The piece was large, could have served 3 but the two of us finished it off. Highly recommend; there are some improvements that can be made but worth a trip for sure.

It's becoming increasingly difficult to defend Whiskey Cake (WC). The restaurant, not the dessert. The dessert can handle itself. In fact, the dessert is pretty much the only reason to stop at WC nowadays. Well, the service is really good, so there's that also. Beyond that, it's not fun to eat at WC. Every time I grab a burger at WC (and it doesn't matter which burger, because I've tried them all now), I'm left wondering if the line cooks have a 4-inch paintbrush from Home Depot that they dip into some melted (organic, grass-fed, obvi, because... come on...) butter, and they then use said paintbrush to coat the buns. The food is nothing short of sloppy. Your cloth napkin will end up looking disgusting by the end of the meal because there's no clean way to eat the food. Then there's the borderline-stupidly overpriced menu. Which wouldn't be a problem if, you know, things tasted good... Every burger tastes like mustard and nothing else. The Turkey Burger is about the only decent thing in the sandwiches category (and even that's unpredictable). And if I can't get a burger done right at $13.50 (e.g. "OMG Burger" probably better named "OMGYEven"), like hell I'm about to spend $17-21 on the "Main Plate" items. If this is the best that farm-to-fork can do, then freaking sad panda. Our most recent (disappointing) visit involved a different dessert offering than the usual: Peach Pecan Upside-Down Cake (PPUDC) or some such... The family sitting next to our group asked us about WC's desserts, because it was their first time. I recommended the namesake dessert, but they ordered the PPUDC instead. Then I (creepily) watched them eat the PPUDC. They apparently loved it. They were going "Mmmmm! Sooooo Gooooood!" even on their way out the door (but I also noticed they didn't finish the dessert). So when it was our group's turn to order dessert, we got some whiskey cakes and one PPUDC. And. It. Was. Terrible. It had no peach or pecan flavor, and it was also dry, semi-burned, hard, and every other unpleasant texture you can think of. It was so hard that trying to cut it with the spoon resulted in the slice bouncing around on the plate. If it was an animal it would be put out of its ever-loving misery, because it was clearly suffering. Breaking hearts and teeth all at the same time. We flagged the nearest server and said, "Ummm... We don't want this." I can't remember the last time we've sent food back. Then I realized that the family sitting next to us had walked out saying that POS dessert was good. So one of two things happened: 1. They have terrible taste. Which is certainly possible. Or more likely, 2. There was some serious cognitive dissonance from having wasted $8, and they were trying to convince themselves that the PPUDC was enjoyable. A few days later they probably went, "Man... that was really not good, you guys." And they were from out of town, so they'll go back home and tell everyone, "Those OKC-folk have this odd obsession with this place called Whiskey Cake. And there was this one brown guy watching us intently as we were eating this awful dessert." Get the whiskey cake. [*][*][*][*][*] for that. And some of the appetizers. Having now spent a few hundred dollars in WC over the last couple years, I'm definitely over the rest.

I'm in OKC for a month and was recommended this place by the bartender at my hotel. It did not disappoint. No wait. The bartender, Aaron was very knowledgable with the entire menu. Service was quick. The jumbo was phenomenal. I would highly recommend this place for anyone passing through. I ended up going with the Bass and it was very flavorful. Check this place out!

Delicious! Went here for my birthday with a small group and was not disappointed! Everything is farm to fork-love! Fresh! I ordered the turkey burger which was huge, the cranberry sauce on it was perfect. Absolutely try the cheddar grits, the pork brisket and deviled eggs. Great wine, beer and cocktail selection as well.

Whiskey Cake is such a unique restaurant for this location. Most of the quirky restaurants are popping up all in the same areas so I'm glad the owners saw the potential to move out of that comfort zone. I have always had good food and service from here but nothing has ever totally blown me away. They have a good range of food from kale salads to burgers so big they have to be held together with a knife. I love that its as locally sourced as possible, that to me makes it worth going back to try more of their menu. I've got my eye on the goat cheese fondue!

Whiskey Cake provides a wonderful experience each and every time we visit. Wow, where to start... Location: I wasn't a fan initially, but the Penn Square Mall parking lot grows on you. A restaurant in a mall parking lot. This has "Blah" written all over it. Turns out, with the amount of people that keep coming back for more they need the extra parking. I sometimes have to walk a little extra to get to the front door, but that's because they are packed. The Wait: Super friendly hostesses! Smiles. Positive attitudes. Quick attention so you never feel ignored. The Wait Staff: Really great folks here. The waiter actually remember us for his first night. I mean he actually remembered the event. This might be unusual, but all of the waiters and waitresses remember us. The manager came and asked us about the meal we had the previous month. The Interior: Huge amount of space here that is packed with tables. For some odd reason, it doesn't feel crowded. You can hear everyone at the table with out straining your ears. Egg crate sound dampening at its finest, without looking cheap. The Bar: A wide selection of delights that will temp those that want to drink from the tap, the bottle, the glass, or from the specials list. Just say, "Yes" to what they put in front of you. You are not going to be disappointed here.

Our family dines here regularly. It's a favorite haunt. When our daughter is here visiting from Salt Lake City, it's The Place she always requests to dine during her visit. The cocktails are well crafted. My husband and I enjoy High West Whiskies. They have all their varieties available. The Duck Wings are very flavorful. The Kale and Pomegranate salad is a must have! And the Whiskey Cake dessert cannot be missed.

I always passed by this place and thought it was some generic chain, but it's actually really unique and delicious. We ordered the Vietnamese sandwich, the chicken sandwich, and the salmon. The Vietnamese sandwich was a mistake. It was really bland and the sauce didn't really go with it. None of us were a fan even though we all love Vietnamese sandwiches. The chicken sandwich was really good, but didn't surprise me in anyway, which is fine. Finally, the salmon was one of the best plates of salmon I have ever had, and I'm not a fan of salmon. The only other place I've had equal salmon was Guernsey Park, which is way more expensive so I'd call this one the winner. It also had some super decadent but delicious cauliflower. Our server Josh was ridiculously friendly. We tipped him well. All in all, I had low expectations and as a result, I was pleasantly surprised.

Tried to go to all the high rated places in OKC. This would be on my list for dessert, food was good but nothing to blow you away. I'm from LA so I'm comparing to that, but for OKC this is a pretty good place to go to for dinner. Nice restaurant. FOOD Local Goat Cheese Fondue appetizer (4 stars): Such soft goat cheese. Really good with the olives and tomatoes in it. Rotisserie Chicken (3.5 stars): Moist and juicy, good healthier option. Chicken melt (3 stars): Meh, nothing special. Whiskey cake (5 stars): You saved the night!!! So freaking good! Very rich so share this! DRINKS Drinks were okay. I can't remember the ones I tried )= They use fresh ingredients but they just weren't that good /= SERVICE (5 stars) Jackie our waitress was amazing! Overall an okay restaurant. The Whiskey Cake and Service are worth it. Food is better than a chain restaurant though. Just order the cake first!

You absolutely must get their namesake whiskey cake! It's got a sinful buttery pecan flavor. You can't taste the whiskey at all really, but the richness, and moist flavor of the cake is because of a dash of good whiskey. Delicious, not too sweet and served with a bowl of home made whipped cream. The OMG burger was certainly tasty, but nothing too different. A little too much mustard on the buns for my tastes and not enough other flavors. The decor in this place is an indie hipsters wet dream, and it feels like they've tried a little too hard. Our waiter gave us a five minute speech about the place that I tuned out after three minutes. All he had to say was farm-raised organic food and prohibition style drinks. The men wear suspenders as part of their uniform which is totally hot, on the good looking guys. Like a lumber jack sort of thing. They have a successful restaurant that is different and cool. I'll be sure to visit their Dallas location at some point.

Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Cleanliness: 5/5 Decor & Style: 5/5 Only been here once and ate the Duck: "Mesquite Smoked Duck Breast - carrot-ginger puree, heirloom carrots, cippolini onions, wilted greens, citrus vinaigrette." It was superb. Duck was moist, tender, and full of spices. It is hard to make good duck. Entire staff was very nice and ambience is current with the new restaurant era. Will be back to try other items!

Relaxed at the Bar, this "Soup for You" A friend visiting from Miami, who has exceptional taste, recommended Whiskey Cake. I quickly became a regular although not during peak hours (here or anywhere). They are busy for good reason. The wait staff are engaged and eager to please, even when a friend voiced her exotic food allergies. A few reviews complain about large party accommodations. I would not know because I avoid crowds and prefer small groups where we can have an actual conversation. The Whiskey Cake bar is where you will find me with a single malt beverage (ask for recommendations, they are pleased to oblige) and perhaps a bowl of their spectacular soup. Seriously, I would not joke about soup (Seinfeld references aside). Last trip I enjoyed a glass of Sauvignon Blanc with the Chicken and Andoville Sausage Gumbo and grilled toast, a phenomenally satisfying feast. Of course, I do not work as a ranch hand or run 10Ks so my caloric needs are minimal. Only order the Whiskey Cake with a willing friend. This is their namesake signature dish and, therefore, best shared. Enjoy.

Love supporting farm to table businesses. This was the first time my husband and I dined here. We came for brunch on a Saturday, along with tons of other peeps. The wait was surprisingly short and we'll worth it considering the service and food. Our waitress was beyond nice and took extra time to explain more about what they have to offer. My husband enjoyed some amber beer (forgive me, I'm not a beer drinker) while I had fresh lemonade. The food was amazeballs! My guy got the OMG burger that was huge to say the least. I had the French toast special of the day that happened to be a monte cristo. Served on wheat bread, it was sweet but not over the top. Even our 14 month old's chicken tenders were juicy and cooked very well. I hate ordering super oily and crispy kids items. All in all, we enjoyed our experience and will more than likely come back.

Great server. Great atmosphere. Unique quirky rusty decor. Below average food. Pulled pork banh mi - old hard French bread. The crust cut the roof of my mouth. Dry pulled pork and tasteless. The only flavors came from the pickled veggies and the Korean bbq on the side - which did not taste good. So my hopes of having moist pulled pork was out of the question. Ramen- tasted very American and not very flavorful. Pork was not too fatty but not melt in your mouth pork. I guess we should have known better than to order Asian influenced cuisine at an American restaurant. They just sounded so appetizing! Plus, not enough noodles. There was barely anything to eat but a lot of broth. "Adult" Mac and cheese- not very cheesy and pretty dry. Maybe the "kids" Mac and cheese would be cheesier and creamier. Hahah Fries. Soggy and stale. One of the first times we barely touched the fries. The basket was still pretty full when they took the food away. Did we come at a bad time??? Everything tasted terrible. The only reason why I even gave it a 2 stars is because the service was nice, restaurant decor and atmosphere was right up or alley. The manager came by at the end and apologized and offered us something else. By that point we just wanted to pay and leave. Our appetites completely lost and we did not want to wait around for anymore dishes that might disappoint.

This place is wonderful! I've had excellent service and the Manager Kayla is great!! I send everyone from out of town here, the fried green tomatoes are wonderful as is the fish sandwich. The mac and cheese is on point and the whiskey cake will make you want to slap your mama. Apologize to her first before you eat it. You'll thank me.

I ADORE this place. All of the food is fresh and organic, and it definitely shows in the taste. The most amazing salad that I have ever had is served here, and the Whiskey Cake is just mouth watering.

This place has a very home like and comfortable vibe to it. They pride themselves on getting ingredients fresh grown from Oklahoma when available. I went with a friend for a late lunch and was greeted very nicely. Our server knew the menu well and gave us some suggestions which is always nice. I got the grilled shrimp salad with the dressing on the side. The shrimp was a little too seasoned and salty for my taste, but the portions were good to where you didn't feel too full or overwhelmed with food. Our server was nice, but wasn't very prompt on refilling water and getting the check, especially for us coming in at 330. My friend and I shared the whiskey cake for dessert, and let me tell you it's a must! It was so yummy!!

These guys try way too hard with the decor, drinks and food recipes. The Banh Mi is a prime example of a huge recipe failure. The ramen bowl is an example of a great recipe recreation. I also like the hard boiled egg situation and they make the best fried green tomatoes. All of the salads are crap as well as most of the mixed drinks. Kale, watermelon, quinoa yuck. They have a good wait staff, quick food delivery and the hostesses are nice.

I was driving thru OKC from LA - checked yelp for dinner food and they had me at WHISKEY CAKE. The cake was soooooo good The fried green tomatoes- decent - nice dipping sauce Fried chicken salad - good - seemed heavily dressed at first but tasted good OMG burger - not quite OMG, but maybe I'm getting weary of burgers... But that CAKE! Come for the cake!!! Service was great Ok so we were laughing a bit at their "corporate hipster" thing- the women wore these little gingham aprons and the men had some leather thing and most wire hipster beards and man buns. It looked like a dress code...

I can't believe I haven't updated my review since the last time I came here with a group of friends. I have dined in here like 20x now with friends, my son, and on dates with my sweetheart. I love their Jessica Wabbit juice during brunch, their salmon is always amazing, and their fried green tomatoes are almost always a must to get. The sauce is just amazing, I could probably eat it with a spoon, haha! Service is always on point, the food has never been bad, and because I've been here a multiple amount of times now, I seriously think this may be my favorite restaurant in the city. I just love Whiskey Cake, and hope the service and quality of food never changes!

One of the only chain restaurants I'm okay with. Whiskey Cake has the farm to table charm down it feels like a local spot! I've been once before for dinner but recently went for Sunday brunch. Got there at 11:15 and only had to wait for about 15 minutes to get a table for 4, no problem because this gave us time to get a mimosas and Moscow mules at the bar. How many chain restaurants do you know of that make incredible scratch cocktails? While getting a drink I had spotted some amazing jalapeño biscuits on someone's table. Once seated we quickly order those drop biscuits with spicy sausage gravy, unreal. I'm big on everyone ordering something different when I go out to eat so I can try some of everyone's. We ended up with the B.E.L.T, chicken and waffles, pork and grits and farmers breakfast on our table. The grits were amazing, but I think the chicken and waffles won. With syrup and bacon cooked into the waffle and then topped with sunny side up eggs, crispy chicken and that awesome gravy you can't really beat it. I got the farmers breakfast that was two sunny side up eggs, bacon and herb potato hash, very simple and good if looking for a lighter fare. Wish we could have left room for whiskey cake but there is always next time because they're will be a next time.

I went to Whiskey Cake today for the first time and had lunch with some friends from Tulsa that came down to visit. I was really impressed with the decor inside. Very comfortable and rustic/modern... if that's a thing. Very pretty and comfortable. Our waiter was awesome. He knew the menu like the back of his hand. Extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I had the OMG Burger, and it was amazing. You can see by the picture... it's a BEAST. I had to stare at it for a minute to figure out how to manage it, but I figured it out. It was perfectly done to Medium, how I ordered it. We also had to try the whiskey cake after we ate... and that cake is insanely good. I've never had anything like it. I can't compare it to anything else I've had. You just have to try it. I almost removed ONE star cause it seemed to take an excessively long time to get our drinks and food, but I'll give them a break because the place was PACKED for lunch. The food made up for it, and for 3 people our tab was $53. Not bad at all in my opinion for everything we ordered. Definitely worth a try. Get one of the burgers. Trust me.

I love Whiskey Cake! I've been there three times and have enjoyed great food and service all three times. I had the fried chicken salad each time. It is lightly fried and has the best buttermilk ranch dressing-made of yogurt! It's satisfying and healthy. I have also had the deviled eggs and they are great. I got the shishito pepper appetizer a few times as well and enjoyed it every time. The peppers are not spicy at all, in my opinion but a friend did say they were too spicy for him. The whiskey drinks were wonderful too. On Sundays there is a pretty awesome bloody mary bar by the way. Just thought you'd like to know :)

My God...Where do I begin. I do not have 1 bad thing to say about this establishment. I ordered the Turkey burger and it was loaded it was loaded with Avocado and cranberry spread...Fantastic. I'm really into my coffee and "Whiskey Cake" thing is all "fresh & local" so they use a local roaster and the bring coffee over in a French press...It was a very Ethoipian with low acidity that was done...Well Perfectly. My Buddy ordered some form of roasted chicken and was equally happy. I'm not a cake guy but my server talked me into the cake and again it was top notch and tasted like my grandmother just made it. I got talking to my server who was a really nice guy and explained the whole concept of the restaurant to us. His name was Austin Herd (I hope I'm got his last night right). If management from Whiskey Cake is reading this...Give that guy a raise. I'm being serious. I love the the decor of country living meets modern a avant garde trendy urban setting. Well Done Folks.

A place for people that may one day understand farm to table. This is a place that feels like the ownership group sold their Chili's after binging on Mumford and Sons. The food is way over priced. There's no other way to start. The food is lazy and messy and over priced. You could have a tastier meal for half as much at many other places in town. The cocktails are very forced and also too expensive. If you have friends that love chain eating and don't care about their budget then this is a wonderful option.

Decent beer section, good whiskey selection (amongst other things). Food was a little lacking. I got the brisket steak, which was really dry and tough to eat. The sides that came with it were really nice tho. Their whiskey cake is a must if you eat here, and it really is delicious. Overall a pretty solid place, just wish the entree had been prepared more carefully.

Freshness is the name of the game. Because of the location this place can get pretty touristy, and some are not ready for the farm to table concept. Yes, you are going to pay a bit more for your chicken sandwich. Yes, it might have a bone in it. But OMG it tastes like actual chicken!!!!!!!!!! Not exactly a kid-friendly affordable place to gorge yourself on hormone-infused ginormous chicken fingers. It is a special treat!

I made a Happy Plate and unless it's a burger and fries... this is rare!!! The food here was delish! I ordered a breakfast sampler and OMG the Bacon was wonderful!!! If I could order that bacon and have it delivered to my house I would. Okay, so after drooling over the breakfast I had to go for dessert. After all, you can't go to Whiskey Cake and not order WHISKEY CAKE!!! So that's what I did. I was full upon ordering, but one bite and I determined that sharing was not an option and all others must order their own. I pigged out and probably walked out looking piggly, but that's what running is for. I will definitely be visiting again.

Another fabulous experience at a fav spot of mine in Oklahoma. Their food is just perfection! We decided after the ballet to come here rather than fight our way through traffic of downtown and long lines at local places. I'm so glad we did. I've had lunch here but never dinner. I decided to try their Local Board sampler tray and omg this has to be the BEST appetizer ever lol. Really it has a bit of everything and it tastes so fresh it was just delicious. I don't drink much or often but decided I would have a glass of white wine with my salmon. I asked for a suggestion on pairing since the salmon was prepared in a non-traditional fashion (the lentils and squash were tasty but a bit on the spicy side. Not exactly my preference but still very good) and the chosen wine paired perfectly. My boyfriend had the duck (well) with a side of brussle sprouts which honestly were some of the best I've ever tasted. They actually went perfect with my meal. He loved his duck. I tried it but didn't care for it as I have never tasted duck I enjoyed. It's simply not a dish I like. But he loved it so that's all that matters. He gave it 5 stars. He had root beer which is his fav and he really loves it from Whiskey Cake. We shared the salted caramel ice cream (not bad but I am not into salted caramel in general) and the pumpkin bread pudding which is hands down the best dessert I've tried there yet. Also one of the best bread puddings I've come across in OKC. It's seasonal obviously so I highly recommend trying it asap. Dinner, a drink and dessert came to $100 with tip. Pricey but well worth it. And I couldn't recommend this place enough. I would love to have all my family and friends here for a birthday dinner party. Even though 95%+ don't drink, the food is great!

Went yesterday. It's a happening place with lots to see. Lots of hipsters that don't know what to do with their hair. Bunch of stuff on the menu that don't really work together. The menu makes no sense. I went ahead with the goat cheese snack, which was good. I got the pork belly ramen, I can make it better with top ramen. Others got the burger and the fish. They said it was dry and overcooked. Maybe they need a professional chef instead of kids in the kitchen with a menu that has edible fares on it. Never going back.

Where to start! Everything has it going on at this place. Locally sourced (as much as possible) food, excellent atmosphere and great beer selection (also giving nods to locals). I had the chicken and cheese melt, but it was more like the ultimate chicken sandwich. Delicious bacon, slices of chicken from an actual hen and wonderfully crispy bread. I'm glad this is now my territory for work, because I'm going to find a reason to come back soon!

Usually my go to swanky place for brunch or lunch when taking someone out. Was totally surprised when I ordered a club soda and they charged me $3.50 for it! Most places will give it to you free because it is tech water but apparently they don't see it that way. Total crap. Won't do that again.

I finally decided to give Whiskey Cake a shot...and it was definitely interesting. The place has cute rustic decor with a comfortable home-style feel. Since it was our first time visiting, our waiter went into a lengthy introduction about the restaurant's farm to to table philosophy, which includes utilizing their backyard garden, and he went over some items on the menu. We were informed that their soup and deviled eggs are prepared with seasonal ingredients... this season allowed them to create creamy tomato basil soup and deviled eggs topped with asparagus and a some type of cheese that I can't remember. Honestly, I wasn't in the mood to try something new....so I ended up ordering a basic burger with an order their parmesan fries. I was actually impressed both by the taste and the size of their burger and fries. Yummy. I was completely full after attempting to finish the burger and fries.... but I HAD to try the whiskey cake... and it was DELICIOUS!!! Seriously... it is a must try. The fresh whipped cream really adds to the whole awesomeness of the cake. Next time I am just ordering the whiskey cake and coffee and calling it a day.

Always get the whisky cake. Okay now that is out of the way, the rest of the food is just okay. The pork ramen is okay, with a very mild flavor to it. The banh mi was pretty dry and lacking something...flavor was kind of bland. The Mac and cheese was really not cheesy at all. The noodles weren't even sticking to each other. Other meals I've had there were okay. Ye appetizers are usually pretty good, and drinks are tasty but as far as entrées go I haven't found anything that keeps me coming back. But there's always the whisky cake.

We have always had a good experience here, but at our recent visit, we had a pretty bad experience with the hostess staff. I wanted to update my review only because if we hadn't been enthusiastic returning customers--we would have either cancelled our reservation or walked out soon after we were seated. I like this restaurant too much for that kind of scenario to happen, so I hope to provide some insight into our experience--only because I believe if newer/less loyal customers encounter a similar circumstance, they might not return. (And once again, the food/drinks/wait staff has been way too good for that.) We had made a reservation at least two days in advance for a party of 8 (which, we were told was almost too small to make a reservation). I guess they prefer to only make reservations for larger parties--fair enough, note taken. In the few days leading up to our dinner, we called to update our number a few times--a fluctuation of 1-3 people. We were trying to keep the restaurant informed & stay accurate on our end, we know it's inconvenient for parties to show up without the planned amount of people. Our bad--that apparently really annoyed the hostesses. The day of, we called to add two people to our 8:00pm reservation. I was told if we wanted to make this change, we couldn't be seated until 9:00pm. /-: I asked if we could just pull up two extra chairs--we were told no, and I was "reminded" that we had already changed our number from 8 to 9 people. Adding two was out of the question unless we wanted to wait an hour later. I said we would just keep our reservation for 9, and if there happens to be extra space/chairs when we arrive, then hopefully we can add on. If not--our other 2 people can sit somewhere else. We arrived at 8:00p with 11 people (reservation for 9). Our table was set for 10. There were SEVERAL extra chairs (including a couple next to us who had two open ones). We pulled ONE extra chair at the end of our table (not blocking any paths, btw). Immediately, we had two hostesses bark at us saying we can't take that extra chair, and they would have to call over the manager. This is when we almost took our party and left. In the hospitality and restaurant business--the hospitality part had been left out. We apologize we were trying to bring our large party of 11 to eat, drink & spend large amounts of money, we assumed that was welcomed. Apparently we were just a huge pain in the ass, and we were reminded of that throughout our reservation process, when we were seated, and through the dirty looks we received from the hostess station during dinner. The issue ultimately came down to one chair. And instead of being warmly welcomed and an attempt to accommodate, we were reprimanded by at least two college-aged girls. Their personal feelings towards us seeped through their professional shell. The irony is there were at least 6 open chairs around us all night--2 were free right next to us throughout our dinner. The ONLY reason we ended up staying is because our waiter, Theo, was AWESOME. He knew his food, drinks and most importantly service. He lightened the tone and did a great job--our entire party of 11 ordered apps, meals, desserts and at least 2-drinks a piece. A star for food, a star for drinks, a star for Theo and one for good faith from our previous visits. That work is all very deserving. All is well that ends well, but does the first part sound like a petty experience? It was. However, pettiness from hostesses is not really what I want to encounter when I am trying to give a restaurant my business. I did end up talking to the manager after our dinner and let him know our experience had left bad taste in our mouthes (no pun intended). I believe we were able to find some common ground, but again--a conversation with a restaurant manager over our bad experience is also not ideal for me after a nice dinner and drinks with friends. We might return to Whiskey Cake, but we're not rushing back after a customer service experience like that one--I'm not sure I can bear another hostess stink-eye, yikes!

I think I am on LOVE with this place. I ordered the kale & pomegranate salad. There is literally so much flavor my taste buds were alive!!! It was huge. My family was very impressed with the food and the service. I believe our waitress was named Brianna. She was super knowledgeable of the menu and very personable. My family shared the whiskey cake for dessert. We will be back!!! If you haven't checked this place out, you should!!!

My FAVORITE DESSERT EVER. I live in Houston now and every time I visit I make a trip to whiskey cake to get my dessert. I usually get the turkey burger & I love that. The other burgers look delicious on the plate, but are so hard to eat because it's packed with so much stuff. I got the grilled shrimp salad this time & it was really good. Had a spicy taste to it! I ate so much, but it looked like I didn't because the portion was so big! The fries are good as well! But my favorite is the whiskey cake. I will just go for that!!!

Great unique place to eat in OKC. Great location next to Penn Square mall. Came here with coworkers for a dinner and it was very good. Atmosphere - 5 stars - it's very eclectic and neat furnishing. Really plays off of the industrial inspiration and infusing old books furniture and such to round out the decor. Food - 5 stars - very good tried a variety since we were in a group. Deviled Eggs, Pulled Pork Sliders, and Fried Green Tomatoes were excellent apps. I had the fried chicken salad and it was good. Dessert we had the house classic whiskey cake and it was delicious! Drinks - 3 stars - alcohol tends to lean towards the craft beers and wine selection. They do have cocktails but they are pricy. I got one and didn't think it was all that great. Coworkers ordered wine and enjoyed it probably more than I did my cocktail. Service - 7 stars out of 5! Dillion was our server and he was amazing! He made the entire experience. He was funny engaging and really knew the menu and how to ask the right questions to pair you with an item. If I come back, I'll ask for his section.

This is it in a suburban shopping mall parking lot but is really a fine restaurant. The noise level is very high but it's worth it because the food is so darn good. I love the kale salad and the burgers are great. Highly recommended.

We had such a great experience at Whiskey Cake last week. I had been here a couple times a long time ago, but I think sitting at the bartop made a huge difference. We got to watch the bartender make tons of craft cocktails, which was so fun and interesting. I had the guava gimlet and the bee sting, and both were awesome. I was weary of the gimlet because gimlets have always sounded really gross to me, but this one had some pineapple juice to sweeten it up and it was delicious. The bee sting was basically a grapefruit margarita with jalapeno, and a perfect combination of sweet and spicy. For dinner, my boyfriend had the grilled tri-tip steak and I had the lamb stack, which was sort of a gyro sandwich kind of thing. The presentation on their sandwiches was awesome. The halves come stacked on top of each other so it basically looks like a small, tall sandwich if that makes any sense. We also had some Brussels sprouts that were lightly fried and topped with Parmesan. I'm not a big Brussels sprouts person, and have only had these and Kaiteki Ramen's - very impressed with both. So maybe I am a Brussels sprouts person now... We finished up with the whiskey cake (how could we not?), and everything was delicious! My only complaint about this place is that in my opinion, the sandwiches are kind of pricey for not coming with a side (except a few chips if you call that a side). I wish you could substitute the chips out so you could try something else without paying $4 extra when the sandwich itself is already $12. I feel like this makes it really expensive for lunch. Having said that, I know a la carte sides are a great way for restaurants to make money, so I get it. Just wish I could try out more of the sides!

4 stars! Very impressed with the service, presentability of the food, and the overall experience. I don't get down with all this farm to table and locally sourced BS, so I'll not comment on where they get their basil from. Sorry, that just isn't what I look for when frequenting an establishment. I was skeptical that this place would be anything more than an Olive Garden but, I was quite impressed. We had a family brunch here to celebrate a change of careers for some of us. I prefer my coffee in a French Press and, lo and behold, that is how it is served here. The interior of the restaurant is a little kitschy, which doesn't bother me but, doesn't impress either. The service was impeccable to the point where my GF asked if she thought we were being rushed out. We weren't, we were just being waited on professionally. Top notch! I went with chicken and waffles and wasn't let down at all. A light batter on the tenders and perfectly cooked waffle with two OE eggs and gravy. Quite alright. I fully recommend this place for brunch with the fam!

Best salmon ever. It's stupid. I was dining alone and Amber was awesome! I had a bee sting cocktail and salmon for dinner. They made my night alone very enjoyable and I seriously can't wait to go back. I already wish I was still eating the salmon. So delicious and I've never tasted a rub like it. A-mazing. Tried the whiskey cake, too. Meh. Very dense. Not very moist and wish I hadn't spent $9 on it. I'll skip the cake and have a glass of wine next time.

Had the cod sandwich which I thought was gross! Small piece of fish that was mostly batter. That sandwich was all bread which was hard. My mom had the pork sliders and even though they were huge...weren't anything to brag about. My BF had the chicken and cheese sandwich which I thought was dynamite! (He always orders better food than me) :-/. We enjoyed the whiskey cake for dessert and it was moist and decadent. Went back 2 days later and ordered the chicken and cheese sandwich and they forgot the damn cheese! Told the waiter and he asked me to open the sandwich so he could see. WTH! Just take my word for it! He saw there was no cheese and brought me a cold slice on a plate. The cheese is supposed to be slightly melted so a brand new sandwich would've been much appreciated and I will speak my mind if I'm not happy, but I didn't this time because I was in a hurry.

If you're looking for a good farm fresh meal with good service and a nice, casual atmosphere, look no further! Whiskey Cake takes the cake (get it?) on the farm to table concept - the decor and the menu both epitomize the theme of fresh, local, good food. I'm not much of a cocktail drinker, but they look original and fresh. My food favorites are the adult mac n cheese and the brussel sprouts (two sides for dinner? heck yes! don't judge me...). I have also had the roast chicken which was excellent. They do not take reservations for parties less than 8, so if you plan on coming during a busy time, you can call about 45 minutes to an hour ahead of time and put your name on the list. The outdoor patio seating is great for when the weather is nice.

These is one of my favorite OKC eateries. Their chicken sandwich is just about the best I've ever had, with remarkably good ingredients, and don't get me started on their namesake Whiskey Cake. It's well worth visiting just for a slice. They're a bit expensive, but you can atste it in every bite. I also suggest trying their deviled eggs, which rotate in style, and are a delight.

Whiskey? Love. Cake? Love. Sooo, I had to try Whiskey Cake. I've been a few times and enjoyed it each time. I've been for brunch (delicious), been for a few regular dinners, and came with a big group later at night for a birthday dinner (they handled the big group really well). The food has been good each time. I've had the trout, the ramen, the burger, the chicken and waffles, and I looove the kale & pomegranate salad. I think it speaks well of this place that they have a pretty diverse menu and they do all the items well. They also have some of my favorite hummus in town. Let's get to the star of the place though, the bar. They have great cocktails and an amazing selection of whiskey, bourbon (my boo), and scotch, along with beer and wine. This is one of the few places in town I know of that does tapped wines, which I enjoy. And you can drink here late-night! They have a lot of info on their website ( whiskeycakeokc.com ) - and they have reservations through Open Table right on the homepage (which I would suggest because I have had to wait here before).

Best food I've had in a long time. Salmon was on point as well as the chicken and cheese sandwich the adult Mac n cheese and of course the whiskey cake. Taylor was our server and she was so delightful and explained everything to us. I really hope they open one of these in Albuquerque stat!

This place is great! Wonderful drinks, and they offer an excellent Bloody Mary Bar for brunch on the weekends and their menu is very diverse and unique. I especially love their herb garden right in front of their restaurant!

Everything about this place was better than I expected. I had been told by a colleague that this place was awesome. They were spot on. The decor is a super cool functional farm house vibe. I was greeted immediately and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. I ordered coffee and they asked if a 5 cup (if I recall correctly) French Press was alright. In my mind I felt like I had won the lottery. I was dining solo and could have ALL the coffee to myself. I tried to hide my delight as I patiently awaited the arrival of the coffee. I ordered the quinoa veggie burger which came with chips and took in the atmosphere. Whiskey Cake is a farm to table concept restaurant which uses as many local flavors/ingredients that they can. This is really neat, why ship something across country if you have it in your backyard? The coffee arrived and came in the French Press and had not been plunged yet. The coffee experience kept getting better. I don't know if it is just me but I get a kick out of plunging a French Press. The coffee was from a local roaster, Elemental coffee. It was superb. A very smooth coffee that I could drink any day. My burger arrived and looked delicious. It came with a few chips as a side (seriously not many chips). The burger had some great flavors and a perfect consistency for a quinoa burger. I was very pressed with Whiskey Cake overall and will go out of my way to go there next time I'm near.

This place is very cool, however you should know what you are in for, the theme is based of the time of prohibition so if you like Captain Morgan, you're not going to get a drink here, however their selection of whiskey and bourbon is RIDICULOUS! Fried Green tomatoes were awesome, a little thinner sliced than I prefer but that is my preference and has nothing to do with how amazing they were! They were a trifecta of crispy, crunchy and delightful! Either by themselves or with the remoulade that it is served with. The Bloody Mary bar was awesome with just about anything you would like to add to it. Might I suggest the pickled okra and cheese stuffed olives. Yum, yum and yum. The vodka was an Oklahoma Vodka (I can't remember the name) and that is one of the cool things about this place, everything is as local as possible. Seriously the guy told me where the grits were from! I find this very cool and a little creepy all at the same time. For my entree I had Pork, egg and grits. This is where it gets weird. I had a hot flash and only had a bite of my grits ( which were not good) so I took it home with a side of Mac and cheese and I never ate the meal. I did however eat the Mac and Cheese and it was out of this world good. They use havardy(sp) cheese with bread crumbs on top. It was even yummy reheated. So all and all I would definitely go back and I would probably re-order the same thing just because I was t feeling well and didn't get to give it a fair shot. It was a great place for brunch to meet with friends. It is pricey my meal was 14, however everything is made fresh, with an open Kitchen where you can see them preparing the food. Awesome place for friends.

Love the food, atmosphere and the service. Our waiter was super awesome and attentive. The drinks were great as well and they support local farms. I had the Tri Trip dinner which is their version of sirloin steak. It was cooked perfectly and very juicy. I had the yellow waxed green beans for the side which were seriously phenomenal. If you're looking for a dim light, good time this is the place to go!

Friendly staff less than an hour before kitchen closing. Good was great. I have the chicken n cheese with avocado melt without the bread (gluten allergy) and sautéed spinach and the chips. Some of the best spinach I've had. It all was great.

So I've been back a few times, and I think I've finally figured out the thing about Whiskey Cake. When it comes to events, you simply can do no better, because you're going to receive excellent, local food, and especially for a large group, you'll find a staff that will go all out to make an exceptional evening. So funnily enough, I think you might have the best experience in a large group -- the opposite of what you expect at a typical restaurant.* Some of our dinners have been a little rough here and there, but we've done multiple events there and it's always been stellar. There's also some expectation management involved here, I think. Whiskey Cake's commitment to locally sourcing food to the maximum extent possible means that every now and then some of the flavors don't always work for me ... I'm just going to say it, I think sometimes stuff does need to be imported. Or maybe every now and then the kitchen doesn't quite get it right. Regardless, it's all about finding the menu items you do like and enjoying them just as often as your budget allows. I think I mentioned this before, but I'll reiterate that the Three Little Pigs are excellent, as are the deviled eggs ... pretty much every single appetizer should knock your socks off. Similarly, dessert is absolutely fantastic because you're not going to be fancy and sophisticated: You're going to have that whiskey cake and you're going to love it. It's not just the creamy cake, it's the icing/frosting that isn't too sweet ... yum, yum, yum, indeed. And the cocktails. Oh, the cocktails. My #2 cocktail spot for the entire city. Try them all, there's not a slouch in the bunch, and it's one of the places the local ingredients really shine. Ultimately, it will probably only take another visit or two for me to justify going all the way up to five stars. Already at five stars for the light bites/dessert/drinks crowd, to be sure. * And at least on our visits, they didn't pull any of that "automatic gratuity added" crap. Confidence in the quality of the service: Refreshing!

So, I wanna meet Tracy. At the very least, I wanna know the story behind Tracy's Garden, which is redolent of cucumber and basil and a possibly perfect cocktail. It may be the best reason to visit Whiskey Cake in summery months. (Whiskey Cake is the main reason to visit Whiskey Cake in wintery, heavy months and honestly, anytime you want to indulge in a buttery toffee whipped yummy hot mess. Duh.) I'm happy to wait - and wait you will- for this kind of craftiness. The bar at Whiskey Cake is slow, even for bottled beers, and on the several occasions I've waited at the bar for a table on the patio, the bartenders have been too busy making craft cocktails like the possibly perfect Tracy's Garden or the whiskey-driven Tennessee Stud (slow whistle) to say, "hello, we'll be right with you." It's okay. Service generally seems to be a little on the droopy side. In my experience, servers and hostesses have been consistently friendly but a little distracted. I don't visit Whiskey Cake often, as it seems less green than it purports itself to be. Despite the emphasis on local, seasonal food, plates have more fresh garnish than substance (and the greener plates, such as the salads, don't really do it for me). There are, nonetheless, some standouts on the menu. The OMG burger, if you're a burger fan, is impressive. The mussel appetizer is spicy but delicious. Of all the things I've tried at Whiskey Cake, these two plates rank among the best. Let's talk about *that* cake. As a recipe hoarder who likes to occasionally share cake with friends and family, I went in search of the recipe for this leviathan of a cake. And despite the four separate components of the cake, none of which are complicated; all of which are rich, I spread the word that I was making this awesome whiskey cake that I'd had at a restaurant by the same name. Though the day arrived, the cake did not. I'm a cake baker before anything else in the kitchen, but this is one cake I guess I didn't really want to share. There were too many people at the house for me to be sure I'd get as much as a wanted. So much for generosity; bah, humbug! If you haven't yet had the namesake cake, get it. Calories, be damned. But do plan to share it; you'll be miserable if you snarf up that decadent deliciousness all by your lonesome self.

Really cool atmosphere and great appetizers! The food was hot and the service was great. You have to try the deviled eggs, they're wonderful! The alcohol is a little pricey, but overall a great experience!

Went to check this place out for Sunday lunch. It was packed but we didn't have to wait for seating. The hostess and servers were really friendly and talkative. I don't think I could remember all of what they had to rattle off for new customers haha They make their own soda I had a "coke" it was pretty tasty but needs some more carbonation. (I bet it would be good with wiskeh hehe) I had the portobello melt with kale and goat cheese. I've never had goat cheese I was kinda scared but it was actually really good! I kinda missed not having a burger but if I was a vegetarian I would make this a staple meal. I also ordered a side of the Parmesan Brussels sprouts. It was rather disappointing. Brussels sprouts are one of my most favorite things and they just killed them. Over cooked and sad looking. The bacon was a nice touch though. All in all we had 4 lunches 2 drinks for around 80$. I'd like to try the dinner and the fabulous looking drinks but I'll have to save up for that haha

Had a really good lunch at Whiskey Cake on a Thursday. We were surprised to find a wait, only 15 minutes, but a wait nonetheless. A wait during the week for lunch, while annoying, is a good sign. We ended up sitting in the bar area at a high top. Whiskey Cake has a good beer selection. It's got some good local entries, as well as beers on tap you don't see everywhere. Definitely above average. To eat, I had a tough time deciding, as the entire menu looked fantastic. I ultimately went with the BBQ pork banh mi, and was glad I did. This sandwich includes crusty bread with the requisite fresh veggies you'll find in a banh mi. There is barbecued pork and some heat from jalapenos as well. The BBQ sauce is slightly sweet. All of the flavors do really well together. The sandwich comes with a few homemade potato chips, which were very good. So, I decided to try the adult mac n cheese, because when mac n cheese is on a menu, there's a 90% change I'll order it. Very glad I did. This stuff is incredible, one of the better mac n cheeses I've had at a restaurant. Whiskey Cake seasons the dish very well, it's not just noodles and a bunch of cheese sauce. Highly recommended, I'll return just to order this again. Whiskey Cake has a sort of hipster farmer vibe. The bar area is large, with both high tops and booths. It's very casual, but don't be fooled, you'll get some serious food here.

Gave it a second chance this evening and could not have been more disappointed. Quick rundown: deviled eggs - not dried after peeling, whites were watery and unseasoned, yolk mixture dry and mostly mustard, toppings odd. Hubs ordered the chicken and cheese sandwich and they left off the dill havarti - still good, but not a chicken and cheese sandwich without the cheese! Kettle chips were bland. I ordered the tri-tip steak with roasted Brussels sprouts and added some cheese "grits". Brussels were excellent, lots of crispy ham and parmesan with good roasted flavor. Cheese grits strangely tasted like broccoli rice casserole - not bad, just weird. My steak was like trying to chew through a garden hose. Whoever sliced it did it with the grain and it was inedible. As for dessert it was a split decision; He thinks the whisky cake is the best cake EVER (seriously acted like a 12 year old girl), I think it's good, but overly sweet. I think we have to call it 2 strikes and you're out.

My son has been a member of Yelp since 2011, but has not been inspired to write a review until yesterday morning. He wrote his review while we sat at the table, and paused only to thank our server, Sam, for her excellent service. Unfortunately, being his first review, it will probably be filtered to the bottom. Because I agree with his review, I will include it here and then expand: W H. 5.0 star rating 3/29/2014 This place is the best place I have been to in a long time. I had some pancakes, bacon and some eggs. I thought it would be a simple lunch but no. This was the best stuff I have ever had. The staff was very good . Good quality place with a out door part with swing chars. It also had a fire place. It was very cozy place. You know that public restrooms can be nasty but it was nice and offered free cologne. And over all a nice place to hang. The coffee was so good I had 3 cups. This is all. My son's pancake stack was perfect. Light and fluffy, and beautifully paired with crispy bacon ordered as a side. His egg was also light and fluffy, and the bite that I was offered made me wish I'd had one. I'd skipped it, as I had an order of deviled eggs topped with pulled pork. They were tasty, but did not stand out as I'd hoped they would. My meal, the pork, egg & grits, was also perfect. The grits were not overly cheesy, and had a wonderful texture. The pork was so good that my son abandoned his pancakes and bacon to eat a second slice from my plate, and the portion was large enough that I could share without regret. We also ordered the Whiskey Cake. Sadly, this was actually the weakest part of the meal for me. I ate a few bites and then packed it up to take home and focused on the whipped cream instead. Ohhhhhh, the whipped cream! It was stiff enough to make peaks, and so sweet and creamy. I'd managed to hold on to a few of the berries from the pancakes and tossed them in. This was the perfect dessert for our heavy meal, and I will order berries and cream next time. I had my Whiskey Cake at home later and realized that my corner slice was a bit overcooked, which explained why I had not loved it the way so many others have. If I ever order it again I will ask for a piece from the center of the pan. I love that they use locally sourced foods, and love the overall theme of the restaurant. I started writing this review as a 4 star, but switched it to 5 when I read through and saw how many times I'd used the word "perfect." Then I tried to come up with a better word, and could not! I know that we will be back soon, and I look forward to trying more of the menu. Unfortunately, due to the price of some of the menu items, we will not be able to eat there as often as we might like (which is every day) but I know that we will be regular guests.

This place is pretty good and fresh. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. We ordered the watermelon salad and it was delicious especially in the Oklahoma heat. We also ordered the three little pigs and of course their famous whiskey cake. Overall a great experience and nice energy throughout.

I'm a big fan of this place. Probably been half a dozen times. It's biggest downside is the location... Not very hip. Atmosphere - Charming and on trend. Drinks - Delicious. I've never had a bad drink and the beer selection is fantastic. Food - Lots of great options. For the price point they are delivering creative, inexpensive options. Service - I have always had excellent service. No complaints.

NOT A CHAIN??? NO WAY! If the food is indeed local, I gotta give them props. I really enjoyed the Pork Belly Ramen noodle soup. I've had it multiple times and it never disappoints. The title desert is also very tasty. I don't even like sweets, but this cake was excellent. Big enough to share with my date too. They make their own soda too. Very cool

Excellent food choices. Unique and filling. Love the presentation of each meal. They are creative with the French toast options. Salads are HUGE! And the side of fries was shared between 5 people and we still couldn't finish it off! Staff here is very nice and attentive. Make reservations in advance on busy days. Like Sunday afternoon.

First time for brunch at WC. Our server, Theo, was great. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and made great suggestions. The deviled eggs are a must. I got the B. E. L. T. Such a yummy sandwich. The drinks are pretty pricey for the size but the Bloody Mary bar is tops. I've been here for dinner too. I'll be coming back.

I had the OMG burger... Yassssss! I couldn't finish it but damn it was great. Appetizers the hummus was really fresh and the duck wings were banging. The assistant manager Kyle was amazingly friendly and Luke our server was a cutie and provided great info. Thanks for a great time and making us fall in love with OKC!

Started with the goat cheese fondue and it was very very delicious. The Ban Mi sandwich was dry and virtually tasteless except for the cabbage oddly enough. The whiskey cake was just Ok. I've had much better. The fries are by far the best thing I ate here. They serve Mexicolas made with cane sugar, so that's a huge plus. Probably would give it another chance if out with friends. However, I probably wouldn't make it a first choice.

Incoming fangirl review. I am cheap as Hell, okay? I love food and all, but I've never been one to go to places where the menu is a little pricey (I get iffy over $10 for a meal) as often as others may. After the elite event last year here I wanted to come back to try it for real, but didn't get around to it until earlier this month. Talk about waiting a long time for something good. The service at the elite event was AMAZING, and I was sure that it was because it was an event that was exclusively catering to people who review frequently, and they wanted to make a good impression. I'm wrong a lot in life, and this was one of those times. The service during my visit was fantastic. The woman who was helping us out was friendly, informative, and just generally pleasant to interact with. Onto the food/drink! The Foul Corsair (5/5) $8 Bacardi Oak Heart Spiced Rum, port wine, house simple, lime juice, ginger beer. Lamb Dip (5/5) $12, comes with their house made chips Thinly sliced roasted lamb shoulder, caramelized onions, and horseradish cream on crisp baguette. It comes with a sizable little bowl of rosemary lamb au (which is AMAZING). ** The lamb was tender and juicy and packed with flavor that went great with the onions and horseradish. It wasn't covered in the cream like a lot of sandwiches are made, so the blend was perfect. A lot of people are sticklers when it comes to bread, and there was no problem here! It wasn't hard and it wasn't so soft that it was "chewy". (Appetizer) Fire Roasted Shishitos (5/5) $5 Medium heat Asian peppers sprinkled with sea salt, with lemon halves on the side. ** I'm not usually a fan of peppers whether they're spicy or not, but this was one of the cheaper appetizers and we wanted to try a little more than our main course and drinks. I'm glad that we did, because these were great! For $5 at a place like Whiskey Cake, you'd expect a few peppers, but it was a bowl full of 'em, and they weren't lacking in quality, either. The roast was simply amazing, and squeezing the lemon juice on them made them perfect. Can I go back now?

I've been here twice with my boyfriend. The first time I had the bee sting which was a great drink and definitely trendy. The waiters and waitresses wear suspenders and attitude glasses. Everyone seems very friendly. They have a huge bar with lots to drink choices. We order the whiskey cake and I about had an orgasm while eating it. Second time we stopped at the Oklahoma City and had less of a great experience but the food was still good. I recommend definitely ordering drinks, whiskey cake, duck wings, and my favorite mussels. But definitely tell them you want a lot of bread for the broth. Or they won't bring it out.

We had the crispy chicken fried salad, bahn mi, hamburger and whiskey cake. It was all yummy to eat food made from scratch and from local farms and ranches within 100 miles perimeter. On top of that, we had an excellent server named David. I will be definitely be taking my out of town guests here.

Huge fan of Whiskey Cake! I've been to the one in Plano, TX, as well. It is always comfortable, and has great food choices and amazing quality :) The setup and design is very cozy, with outdoor seating and a fireplace. Recommend the burgers, and Whiskey cake!

What more can be said about this amazing place that over 100 other people haven't said already? Whiskey Cakes is for real. It's legit. As a matter of fact it's down right bona-fide. I'm usually pretty stingy when it comes to going out to eat but I've never felt so satisfied after dropping $70 at a place. The service is amazing. They are friendly and seem to know the menu. It felt genuine to me. Our server seemed to care and joked with us taking an effort to build a real rapport. She definitely earned her tip this day. The food was pretty much to die for. The BBQ Banh Mi was AMAZING! I've never been a big fan of carrots or daikon radish and had actually intended to ask for less of it on my sandwich, but I'm happy I didn't. It had plenty of flavor and a good bit of kick to it as well. The fresh kettle cooked chips tasted better than any chip has a right to as well. We also ordered the fire roasted shishitos, medium to no heat on them but still plenty of flavor. Drizzle some lemon juice on them and go to town because they are delicious. Of course we tried the namesake as well and it was worth naming a restaurant after. For drink I has a Tennessee Stud and it was so good. You could barely tell there was any alcohol in it. Could easily see myself downing a couple before I realized I would need a taxi home. Seriously, if you're on the fence about trying out Whiskey Cake jump off and make it happen. Good does not begin to describe how amazing it is. I'll be back with friends because this place needs to be around for a long time.

Ask for Austin George!!!! He is super knowledgeable and has great taste! We had the deviled eggs, Mac & cheese, lamb stack , Korean BBQ pulled Pork, kale & pomegranate salad, Brussels sprouts and of course the whiskey cake! We also sampled the following libations: the great escape, Tennessee stud and the wompascat! Overall the atmosphere, food, drinks & service were perfection! Thanks again Austin!

The food is amazing! The drinks are amazing (alcohol or non)! I love the atmosphere! The menu is great and if you've never been or have never taken the time to try their Whiskey Cake dessert....DO IT! It's a huge portion so you may need a friend, family member or date to help finish it....but it's amazing.

Sweetie and I wanted to try a new place and this one came highly recommended. We sat at the bar to eat on a friday night and never felt rushed. At one time or another every bar tender talked with us. We tried a few items...the duck...the mac & cheese ... the chicken and cheese sammy....the onion dip and chips ... great craft beer .... and of course the whiskey cake. It was all amazing, fresh and beautiful food. The whiskey cake come out with fresh, real whipped cream. It was a great date night and worth every penny. We can't wait to go back and totally suggest hanging with the bar staff. On final note, the eclectic atmosphere was really cool... a great mix of antiques and industrial.

Had the OMG burger. OMG it is the best burger I have EVER had. I was in the area for business and had it yesterday and today. 10 out of 10. Yesterday I had the wiskey cake for dessert and today I had the banana cream cheese cake. I love bananas so I have to say that one was my favorite. Lindsay was attentive and on top of everything. I don't know why this place isn't in southern california... oh wait we are in a heavy drout. I wouldnt start one there either. Their bar was packed. Both days and the people I went with yesterday all said it's the best in town. Don't miss this opportunity to come here. I'll see you again Whiskey Cake.... and some banana cream cheesecake. Muhahahaha.

Not a fan. I love the concept of healthy fresh ingredients. I ordered a turkey burger and ordered the $5 salad on the side. The sandwich comes with "kettle chip". Asked about a replacement. Kale chips was given to us as a option. I even spelled out KALE to make sure that we did not confuse it with kettle chips( it was loud in the restaurant ) . The food comes out--kettle chips. Ask the waitress-she clarified that potatoes were" kale" chips. She obviously do not know kale from a potato. Best her heart. Won't be back any time soon.

This is one that I'll get slammed for because I everyone I know seems to love this place. I just don't get it. I've tried it several times and I think they're awfully proud of their food. Their pricing is on par with some of my favorite local OKC haunts and their flavor combinations just don't do it for me. I think they chose a mall parking lot for a reason because they remind me more of a chain restaurant than a farm to table restaurant.

Great menu. Farm to table. Yum deviled eggs (had that and the OMG burger last time). Tonight had the Pork Belly Ramen. It's to die for!! Also had the onion dip and kettle chips. Sooooo good. Ordered the goat cheese appetizer and it was bitter. Not something I would order again, but I don't hold it against this place. Had to get the whiskey cake for later Its a loud place, keeps very busy. Glad I had reservations. Great service and friendly staff. Will definitely be back

YUM, YUM, YUM, YUM, YUM. What a great experience here! Everything was top-notch and I thoroughly enjoyed my evening out. So, I told my Okie friend she needed to pick a place that was local and served great food. She chose Whiskey Cake, and I went in blind, not knowing what to expect. Upon arriving, I was surprised at how big this restaurant is. I don't typically associate local-fresh with such a large place. We arrive around 6, and had no wait. It was great. Our server, Chris, was absolutely a peach! So friendly and informative, and fun to talk to! I started with a cream soda to drink. It's a secret indulgence, and since it was locally sourced, I gave it a go. My friend and I decided to share the mussels for an appetizer. And let. me. tell. you! Best thing ever. You could eat it as a meal if you wanted to. The mussels were cooked to perfection and had a cajun flair with ham mixed in. It was served with toast - a buttery warm comforting flavor that I just can get over. I want to go back for them right now! We were curious about the mussels since obviously they weren't locally sourced, and our waiter reminded us that MOST is local, but some items come from out of state but still come from farms/sources that they have a personal relationship with. I'm cool with that. There was so much that we couldn't eat all of it, if we were to save any room for our meal and of course some whiskey cake. For dinner, I had the BBQ Banh Mi. I wanted something different and this time locally sourced. I'm pretty sure the pig came from Oklahoma so I got what I wanted. This meal was the perfect size... the roll fresh and warm. The pulled pork BBQ-y and delicious. It wasn't to drippy and the bread didn't get soggy. I hate soggy bread so it was perfect. The cilantro topping with sliced carrot and daikon radish were so fresh and palatable. I could go on and on. The presentation AND flavors were perfect! We of course had to have dessert. You come to a place named Whiskey Cake, and you have to have the whiskey cake. Moist and warm, the flavor of my mother-in-law's pecan pie in cake form. DELECTABLE. I was truly pleased with my experience, here and I would recommend it to locals and anyone visiting OKC. The atmosphere, the staff, the food (and a finely stocked bar to boot) all made for a five star rating. Also - as a final note. Upon leaving I couldn't find my phone. In my vehicle, I was a little distraught and rifled through my bag ten times. I hurriedly went back in and asked - it couldn't be found. I wanted to cry, and it had only been a few minutes since I'd walked out. I thought someone had up and walked away with it. They took my name, number, and address in case they found it, and I was really thankful that they took the time to do that. (FYI - I found my phone on the side of my seat in the car, it must have fallen out when I threw my bag in), I was thankful for their effort none-the-less.

This used to be a trash elephant castle restaurant so I hadn't given it a chance at all until yesterday when we met friends for a drink prior to going to the Energy match. Amazing! Kicking myself for avoiding this place for the past year. Drinks are handmade using real fruit and muddled ingredients. The apps and sandwiches we had were fantastic as well!

Let me start with this: 3 stars is not a bad thing. Granted, I've been to Whiskey Cake 3 times now. I reviewed Whiskey Cake once, but took down the review after wanting to give it a few more shots. So here I am, solidly at 3 stars. I came in with a lot of high expectations. After hearing people rave about Whiskey Cake, I was ready to 5 star it up. Sometimes things don't live up to high expectations. You'll hear about a restaurant and how phenomenal it is, only to eat there and discover that while yes, the food was mind-blowingly delicious, but also expensive with hit and miss service. Hit and miss service, you say? There's clearly some turnover among the wait staff, as 2 out of the 3 times I've been, the waiter was either inattentive, or in the middle of training that we were so well-attended that it became a little annoying. My last visit, the service was decent, and I happily left Eric a nice tip for being a good waiter. So like I said: hit and miss. The food really is amazing. I've had the salmon a couple of times here as well as the quinoa burger. I don't think I've ever had a meal I didn't like here. If you order the side of fries, take heed that the order is HUGE. Two people at our table tonight ordered fries, only to discover they couldn't finish them. The fried green tomato appetizer is also excellent. And the goat cheese. And the deviled eggs. And duh, the whiskey cake. It is supremely good, and I don't think I had ever had a dessert quite like it. One quibble, though: apparently you can't make reservations online for more than 4? I had a group of 8 coming, and it was a definitely annoying that I couldn't use OpenTable because of that restriction. I'm sure there's a reason for it, but to me, it kind of defeated the point of reservations. Either way, I recommend you definitely give Whiskey Cake a try. The food is Good.

A place this good so close to home could get me in trouble. Short of being in the mall parking lot, I have no complaints. Our family stopped in for a meal and had a great experience from beginning to end. Wait time wasn't bad, the decor was fun, and food was by far the star. Our server was great and knew her stuff - her suggestions were spot on. Prices weren't bad either. Looking forward to our next visit.

Get the whisky cake!!!! This building has been totally redone since it was the elephant bar. Huge improvement! Now has outdoor seating with fireplace. Everything inside is industrial farmish. They do not serve regular soda. It's all made with real sugar and a bit different if you're use to soda. Lots of different beers to choose from. The chips and French Onion dip are made in house and are amazing. Could easily just have that as a meal. Pork sliders, and the duck dish were very good. Everything seems fresh. Portions were smaller than expected but still fill you up. Definately a good place to take out of town company. Whisky cake comes with freshly made whip cream. The cake.... Not sure how to describe it. No whisky in it. Dark cake but not chocolate. Very rich(you'll want to split it), moist and super Yummy. I know that may not help. Just try it. You'll love it.

This place has a nice modern vibe. It's "farm to fork" so everything tastes fresh and you know your meal is being prepared with quality ingredients. While the best thing on their menu is their whiskey cake, their food isn't bad either. Mostly, the food is just presented well on modern looking wood blocks and brown (wax?) paper. So it looks nice, but it may only taste okay. That being said, the Thai Barbeque Duck Wings and the OMG Burger were hits! Both of them had me moaning at the table. The Thai Barbeque Duck Wings were so juicy and tender they fell right off the bone. The wings tasted so good I didn't even want to dip them in that sriracha ranch sauce they came with. Instead we dipped our fries and even our kettle chips in that sriracha ranch sauce and it was delicious! The OMG burger came with a big onion ring, roasted criminis, muenster, grain mustard, red chili mayo, lettuce, and tomato on a challah bun. It was perfection. My buddy had the Lamb Stack burger which was okay. It was little bland and the lamb could have been more tender. My girlfriend had the Chicken and Cheese sandwich which was rather bland as well, but it didn't taste bad if you dipped it in that sriracha ranch sauce! haha :) The best part was the whiskey cake, we ordered two for the table (there were 8 of us) and it was plenty to go around. The cake is a toffee torte, with a bourbon anglaise, spiced pecans, whipped cream. My favorite part is the crispy bottom. We asked for extra whipped cream because that stuff is like heaven in your mouth. I've been here 3 times and twice I've just came for the whiskey cake and nothing else. haha :) As a heads up, parking can get kind of scarce especially on the weekends since the restaurant is right next to the mall. So perhaps carpooling or arriving early would be in your best interest! :) This was my first yelp review. Let me know what you thought, and give me suggestions to improve. I hope this helps! :)

Service was good, soup was good, main course was good, desert was good and so was the mixed drink. You will likely be opening your bilfold extra wide when you get the tab, but you won't feel ashamed after your meal like you would at a cheap buffet. Super hipster atmosphere.

Great farm to table concept with a hipster vibe and whiskey bar. Frequented this location several times and have sampled many menu items. A bowl of inspired ramen noodles would be a good salty broth for the colder months. Crafted bourbon drinks are recommended.

I went on a whim to escape the holiday shopping monotony. What sounds better after mindlessly trudging up and down the escalators to find a 'Day-glow pink cashmere infinity scarf' than whiskey cake?! The location and exterior are exactly what was needed for thos spot. A practical facade with a bit of down home goodness welcomes you. Upon walking in the warmth and true mass of the building sink in. Wow, this place is busy. It certainly has been both times I went. Once for drinks and secondly for the full effect. The bartender was a bit of a downshift on the personality. We can't be 100% on all the time, I get that. For our second trip I was overwhelmed by the heat. Was it 90 in here or was this a hot yoga session with carb loading? Who knows... but it was sweltering. I got a glorious turkey sandwich on housemade potato bread & hand cut sweat potato chips. My friend got a salmon filet with lentils. The lentils were very appealing as a former vegetarian, perfectly done with a hint of possible smoky ham hock?! I wanted my sandwich to rock my world. I wanted to hear Dream Weaver as I bit into the warm bread. However I heard nothing. The bread was super dry, it was toasted but it was more like the most inappropriate Dane Cook joke.. Christ Chex. It really wasn't what the turkey needed. Two dry items never make a good match. So 3/5 on the food. Our waitress was Sarah, she was able to recommend plenty from all aspects and tastes of the menu. I loved just looking around and taking it all in. The whiskey selection can't be beat as a main namesake and pivotal decor item. I loved their cleanliness and be sure to puruse the bathroom for a bit more of their rustic touches. All in all a fun experience and good nosh spot to bring family and out of towners.

    I. Love. This. Restaurant. I haven't eaten anything here that was not perfect! I love the hamburger and the deviled eggs are always interesting. The atmosphere is so nice also. This is a perfect place for a date night.

After a morning of shopping, we took a group of 9 to Whiskey Cake for brunch. With such a large group we had about a 20 minute wait- not bad. The freshly squeezed juices were delicious. I had a bubbles-n-berries. Not overly sweet with a decent kick. One child got the pancakes of the day. Another a giant burger. All was very tasty. But the chicken and waffles-oh.my . goodness. I've eaten a lot of chicken and waffles. These were so, so good. Not overly sweet, great maple gravy, perfectly juicy tender. 2nd trip I brought friends from out of town. This time we ordered the whiskey cake. Hands down best dessert I've EVER had. A third trip will happen soon!

I have been here a few times, each time pretty pleased with the food. I was able to taste a little bit of everything due to my party and I were sharing our food. The lobster roll was so-so, but I wouldn't expect something comparable to the easy coast. Next, the pork belly ramen. I love ramen but this wasn't too satisfying. The broth tasted like it was mainly seasoned with soy sauce. The noodles and meat were good though. The two food items I did enjoy were the OMG Burger. The burger is HUGE with flavorful meat and a good quality bread to hold everything. The fried helped top this meal off. Also, I enjoyed the club-like sandwich they had. Perfect ratio of meat, veggie, and bread. MUST TRY the Whiskey Cake no matter how full you are. I am not a lover of cakes infused with alcohol, but this cake wasn't too sweet, very moist, and the sauce and whipped cream made this dessert to die for!

Phenomenal food and great service at the bar, I highly recommend this place! I had the gulf shrimp grain bowl and it's some of the best tasting healthy food I've had in a restaurant in a long time! Very friendly staff!

I went here with some friends because my other friend told me the cake is awesome. I ordered the tomato soup with pulled pork and the chicken melt. Both were delicious. 3 of my friends had the burger and hey said the bread was awesome. My friend Cheryl had the tuna stack which she said had good flavor to the sandwich. Overall we will be back but I will try something different too, just to see what else is good. The whiskey cake was amazing and the bananas foster bread pudding was very delicious but the whiskey cake was the best.

I love to eat here! The foods are okay but the whiskey cake is amazing! It's not the same when you take it to go. The whip cream is so delicious and it melts in your mouth like heaven. Oh, and don't attempt to make the whiskey cake at home, because it's incredibly hard and won't taste the same. You get what you pay for!

My FAVORITE spot in OKC. The farm to table concept is really what keeps me coming back, as well as the excellent food (and service). Food and drinks take a little longer than usual places but it is well worth the wait- my cocktails had real juice from a juicer and my olive oil for example was freshly made. Incredible food. I went several times without ever ordering the whiskey cake because I'm not really a dessert person...but now, I most certainly can't go there without it!!! Highly recommended.

This restaurant is the best in the city for the best food in town. The wait staff is always spot on and today was no exception. DYLAN in capitol letters because he was just that great!!!! I don't know what the name of that rum drink was but it was spectacular and on Dylan's recommendation. I bring all of my out of town visitors here first, because it makes such an indelible impression.

I had a great experience at Whiskey Cake on Valentine's Day. We made a 9:15 reservation on Open Table and arrived a little early, but were seated right on time in a nice booth! Our waiter, Dillon, was so nice & just awesome!! We started off with the seasonal Duck Wings (4). They were really good - dressed in a tangy, Thai kind of sauce. I wish they were warmer but I still enjoyed them. The best part was the dipping sauce. I forget what it was; maybe something along the lines of Chipotle Ranch. We saved the extra to dip the rest of our dinner in because it was that good! The Brisket Steak.....5 stars! Soo tender and flavorful! I've never had a brisket steak before. The Mac N Cheese.... 5 stars, also! Just try it. The Parmesean Fries.... 4 stars, I've had better but they were still enjoyable :) The Chicken Melt (rotisserie chicken, avocado, pesto mayo, bacon, lettuce, tomato).... 4.5 stars with a side of their homemade chips... 5 stars! I mean these chips were awesome. WHISKEY CAKE.... 5 stars! My boyfriend isn't a dessert lover but said this was the best cake he ever had :) We also tried the Valentine's Special dessert of Dark Chocolate Bundt Cake.... Sadly 2.5-3 stars. It wasn't anything compared to the Whiskey Cake. We will be back :-)

Outstanding brunch (I had chicken & waffles, my wife had French toast), great flavor and quality - portion sizes were just right. Service was fast, staff was kind and attentive. Check-in process was a little nuts, but it was mostly the other guests that made it that way, not the staff. A wonderful first experience for us - looking forward to returning soon.

Great place to go after a game or a goodnight beverage. My daughter was in from the San Francisco Bay Area and following a wedding we stopped by for a late night bite and a cocktail. The Wedding food, according to her, was not to her liking and she was still hungry. She had a great grilled chicken and a house salad while sipping a Manhattan. She commented that was as good a Manhattan as she has ever had. I really can't comment on that as I'm a Chopin martini guy. Since I've not been in this restaurant since the Elephant Walk it was great'

I went to Whiskey Cake for Brunch and I had the French Toast Switch Up. Now, I'm a sucker for good French Toast and am always trying to find someplace that serves. There's definitely had a unexpected but pleasant twist to it. Great portion size and the service was good.

A disappointment as I had high hopes based upon the strong reviews. Nice setting and the bar would be a good place to catch a game. Food was just off and the server was not professional. There are better options in OKC.

This place is always crazy busy - which always makes me wonder what all the fuss is about. Today is my third time to eat at this place (within the last 8 weeks) and it most certainly won't be my last. My two previous visits were for dinner and today's was lunch. First: I love their concept and over all simplicity. They are a farm to table restaurant with all products locally sourced (even the fruit juices for their cocktails). The decorations are fairly simple but the setting is very cozy with a rustic elegance about it. Food: The goat cheese fondue is my favorite starter- salty and warm with olives and tomatoes. They serve it with grilled, crusty bread that makes this such a wonderful comfort food. For main courses I have had the brisket steak, banh mi, and pork belly ramen thus far and all have been wonderful! Loved the brisket steak the best . . . but that might just be Texas talking . . . The house dessert, whiskey cake, is incredible and totally worth saving room for. It doesn't have a super strong liquor flavor as some boozy desserts tend to get and is just super moist and flavorful. The only "con" to this place is how hard it is to be seated due to how busy they stay. Come earlier than "normal" eating hours and definitely make reservations when possible. Also, if you're alone, don't expect to just walk in and sit at the bar - even those seats are assigned.

I absolutely love Whiskey Cake. The menu is very gluten-free and dairy-free friendly, and the waiters are very accommodating on making substitutions. I love the Bahi Mi sandwich on their house made gluten-free buns! I have also tried the yard house chicken, salmon, OMG burger, pork belly ramen and a couple salads. I am never disappointed by the food. To pair with the food I definitely recommend any of their fresh juices, or if you are in the mood for something a little stronger try the Little Rye Lies. Also be sure to ask for the weekly devilled egg specials. It is always something tasty!

I had my first experience here back in October and I will say that our greeting was not at all what I would expect from a well talked about restaurant. My sister had a reservation for 9, and we called a few hours before to add 2 to the reservation and they said they wouldn't be able to do it. We took the chance to show up and see if there was any extra space. Showing up, the table was set for 10 people. I loved the environment of this rustic farm to table restaurant, however how we were approached after left a very sour taste in my mouth (please note that the woman beside my husband was taking up a seat with her purse). After everyone was sitting, we were very rudely approached by the hostess and asked if we had moved a chair to our table from another one. Sitting in a chair that was booked for the table, I said "no, these chairs were set here".. The hostess just said "okay, well I'll need to go get a manager then." Long story short, I just felt like we were being eyed and talked about the whole time by the hostess's that were right by us, and that the manager wasn't nice either. I've gone to other restaurants where they helped accommodate ONE chair in the group instead of making our whole party feel like we were so unwelcome. My sister tried to speak with the manager in a reasonable manner afterward, however, you can read her review here as well for her thoughts. On top of it all, the food was good... but not like I thought it would be. Pretty pricey. I won't be giving this restaurant a second try anytime soon. However, I would give our waiter 5 stars-- I believe his name was Theo and he was wonderful.

I'd hate to be "that guy" and say a place is possibly overrated*, but...you know what? No, I don't hate being "that guy." Someone has to be "that guy." Why not me? I've been to Whiskey Cake 3x. The Yelp event, brunch, and dinner. The Yelp event was historically EPIC! WC was throwing out some fantastic mixed drinks and the food wasn't half bad. (I was a big fan of the sliders that night.) Their brunch wasn't half bad either. I had their chicken salad, which was chicken hanging out on a bed of spinach greens. It was a totally legit salad. Salads should only be allowed to have spinach in them, in my opinion. Now...for the dinner. I had their basic burger, which is unusual for me. (I usually go with chicken when I dine out.) It basically consisted of chopped brisket, bacon, mayo, and cheese. I don't put vegetables on my burger. If I want a burger, I only want to taste meat, cheese, and whatever condiment I'm in the mood for...I don't have time to taste a crunchy red onion, or a leaf of lettuce. That stuff is for the birds. Okay, enough of my preferences. The burger came out...here was my initial reaction. -Way too heavy handed on the mayo -Bacon was brittle -Brisket was wayyyyyyyy too greasy for my liking. (Emphasis on "my liking." I understand that some people like a little more grease on their brisket.) There was so much grease coating the brisket, it started to weaken the integrity of the bread...which turned into a bigger mess than I cared to experience. I wasn't too high on the taste, although it wasn't terrible, per se. It was the execution that was failing so hard. The actual "Whiskey Cake" was damn good though. I mean DAMN GOOD. The cake alone is worth a trip to WC. I'll be back, because I support local businesses...especially those that incorporate local farmers/gardeners' produce in their menu items. *Overrated might be a little too strong, but I couldn't think of any other way to describe my feelings of Whiskey Cake.*

My coworker and I went to this place while in town for work. We're from Chicago which has a huge foodie scene. We looooooooved this place. Everything about it was pretty great. The light fixtures are really cool and the bar is prohibition style and has this really cool industrial feel. Our waitress was awesome! She was friendly and talkative, gave great recommendations, and it felt like she genuinely cared about our experience. The food was amazing. I had the BBQ Banh Mi sandwich. The pork had a nice Korean bbq smoked flavor and the pickled carrots, jalapeno, and cilantro gave it these really amazing fresh taste. I also had the hulk juice and that was super fresh tasting. Everything is fresh squeezed daily and they get as much of it as they can from local producers. needless to say... it tasted super fresh without any of that added sugar taste. Why 4/5 stars then you ask? Honestly, it was the hostess. The hostess is a pretty important part of the dining experience. It didn't feel like she wanted to be there. Warm and inviting are definitely NOT two adjectives I'd use to describe her.

What an awesome place! The overall experience you get here is fantastic! I have been on a couple occasions and have never been let down by service, food or atmosphere. From the outside you know this place is going to be great at least for atmosphere. It's a brick building by Penn Square mall and the first thing to hit you is the smell of smoked meat, seems to just lure you in closer. You then notice the giant outdoor fireplace and seating area with ceiling fans and comfy looking couches/chairs. Upon entering you're greeted by an industrial modern internal with some new detail to be noticed on every glance. There is an array of seating options to include hightop, booth, table and bar. The bathrooms are very clean and decorated well. The staff is extremely helpful and nice. All are dressed well and you see smiles everywhere you look. The host greats you immediately and you are seated promptly. Finally the best for last.....THE FOOD!!! It is some of the best good around. One of my favorite items is brunch chicken and waffles. They bake bacon into the waffle and serve it up with eggs any style and epic fried chicken. The drinks are amazing too! The French pressed coffee is so fresh and really gives you a great feeling! They have an array of adult drinks to choose from for every part of the day to include a Bloody Mary bar to create your own.

Very very good restaurant. Vintage American theme with a simple unique staged menu. I ordered the live wood grilled salmon, for the appetizer deviled eggs colored with beet juice and red wine, and for dessert, the signature Whiskey Cake! Hands down, it was a great experience. Knowledgable and friendly staff, cordial manager and perfect atmosphere to dine for the night at the bar while watching an NBA game at the full service bar. WILL visit again

LOVE this place! It was a little pricey, but the food was well worth it! The staff was very friendly. I had the hamburger and it was great! We had the deviled eggs as an appetizer, and they topped it with bacon. I recommend everyone to try this place at least once!!

Went there on a whim with my sister. It happened to be on the day that they were celebrating the repeal of prohibition and they were giving away wooden nickels that you could buy drinks with. We sat at the bar and got the greatest service. The food was great and the signature whiskey cake was awesome. We will be going back again.

My friends and I have decided that this is a female friendly restaurant. What does that mean? Well, the bathroom is stocked with pads/tampons, there are purse hooks under the bar, and there are lots of cute male waiters! ;) I have tried several appetizers, entrees, and drinks and I gotta say, I'm impressed. Not only does the food taste great, the presentation also deserves some attention. Like that OMG burger, how do you even eat that?! I love the decor and vibe Whiskey Cake gives off. Employees are friendly and I like their farm to table concept. Prices are high but I feel like it's so worth it. That whiskey cake.....you can't leave without getting a piece! And the whipped cream.....omg just give me the whole bowl and slowly back away - it's amazing!

Best dinner we have had since we moved to OK! We had the deviled eggs, pork brisket with chedder grits. Amazing. Great service and great atmosphere. They had the thunder game playing and the crowd was so fun! Having never ate there, I had many questions about the menu and the waiter was spot on with helping me! They don't serve coke or Pepsi products so he suggested Doppelgänger in place of Dr pepper. It was great! We Wil be back!

This is a great place that my coworkers and I like to visit before our company meetings and a great place to grab drinks. If you're hipster - then this is the place for you! They use local ingredients and the bartenders look like extras from "The Newsies." When you walk in, you can feel the skinny jeans, beards, and people listening to music you've never heard of. Very nice. Things I like: The chips and homemade onion dip. The Basic Burger And of course: The Whisky Cake. It's to die for. Small menu but great items to choose from. Also great brunch.

Farm-to-table food is my favorite. It's a shame that it has taken this long for Oklahoma to start getting restaurants like this. There's something about eating food that was grown in the state. The setup of the restaurant is a cute shabby-chic. I have bee several times and tried different items. The 3 little pigs is my favorite. The pulled pork is tasty and savory. Their turkey burger is different; it has more spices than the usual turkey burger. I like it, though. The homemade chips were a bit boring and you can't substitute for fries so we had to order extra. They were also just okay. There's a banh mi on the menu for $11! If you've had a banh mi, you know that $11 is outrageous! Don't get me wrong, it was good....but you can get an awesome banh mi at Lang's Bakery for $2.50!! Lastly, their drinks are really good and unique. The palomar is my favorite, but I've liked every drink I've tried there. I was a bit everywhere with this review so here's the breakdown: Concept: 5 stars Atmosphere: 5 stars Food: 3 stars Drinks: 4 stars

This place is amazing but make a reservation for the love of delicious food. Husband and I rolled up to Whiskey Cake at high noon on a Sunday, so we all understand how busy this place is. There was a wait almost out the door, but we had a reservation and were seated immediately. The decor is so amazing. It's so urban but so farm fresh. And the food. Let me tell you how amazing this food is: if I ever were within a half day's drive of this place again, I would come here in a heartbeat. All the food is locally farmed, and wow, if this is how food is supposed to taste, take me now, I'll go live in a farm for the rest of my life. We had some of their speciality drinks. I had the nonalcoholic Beet le Juice, which our server Dylan recommended. I could have strung up an IV of that and been dependent on it for the rest of my life, that drink was so good. Dylan is awesome and will not steer you wrong about what's best on the menu as well as give you awesome service. Husband had the alcoholic Wabbit Smash which was very refreshing. He said the fresh juiced carrots made the drink. I had the OMG burger, which lives up to its name. You can't eat it without cutting it, it's so tall with it two deliciously fried onion rings. I think this was burger ranks in the top three burgers that I've ever ate in my life. Husband had the hangover burger. We did not talk to each other when the meal came: we ate and moaned about how great the food we were eating was. We also didn't share bites, that's how good our individual burgers were. I hate that this place is so far away from where I live. I will dream of food this good.

We absolutely LOVE the whiskey cake (at Whiskey Cake) and will often meet up after work for a quick drink and a piece of that cake. Our favorites? Pork Belly Ramen, Kale/Pomegranate Salad and Mussels. We recently went to brunch - it wasn't something to write home about, but the menu caters to individuals that are looking for that hearty, heavy meal. Since we are simpletons, that wasn't what we were looking for. Great vibe, delicious bevvies and dessert, but no on brunch for me! I'll be back, if only for the cake.

I've been here twice and both times loved everything. Their fried green tomatoes are awesome and their deviled eggs are sinfully delicious. They have a huge beer selection which is great for people like me that likes to try new things. I'm not a dark beer person but the Left Hand Milk Stout beer is quite tasty. It's thick (TWSS) but the flavor is bold and great. I love that they are bit on being environmentally friendly too with their decor.

Just go for the cake. Take it home. Enjoy every last bite. Whiskey Cake was a last minute dinner decision at an odd time on a Saturday afternoon while we happened to be in the area. I went in not expecting much from a mall restaurant, but actually found the food to be quite tasty! I ordered the ramen noodles and the friendly server remarked, "On a HOT day like this?! Hahahahaha!" Hilarious... -_- The atmosphere was lively but relaxed. Great bartenders! My only annoyance was with the group of teen girls sitting at the table next to us trying to take secret pictures of the patrons and laughing... yeah, I see you. When are your parents picking you up?? I don't think I'll ever go back for the dining experience, but I'll definitely return to get that delicious Whiskey Cake, to-go!

Really enjoyed my dinner here and loved the atmosphere. I got the edamame, quinoa veggie burger-really really good. Also got the side salad and one of the local Belgian beers. The beer was good but 10% abv so I was feeling it! Really liked the house dressing, had a nice kick to it. Of course I got the whiskey cake-it was everything I hoped it would be and I loved the homemade whipped cream they put on top. Had a great experience.

I am growing stingy with five stars--this would defintely get 4.5 if that was an option. What a surprise! You see a resatauraunt in a mall parking lot and you think--that's going to be awful. That's what I thought about this place for about a year now. It also sorta looks like a chain--but that might be due the building that they got dealt. Anyway, its a farm to kitchen thing going on, and that's not something that I really care about--I understand it's important but let's also understand that its a privilged air one takes upon when speaking in such terms. Anywho. It was Mother's Day and at the time not too busy. We were seated quickly. Its a hip spot no doubt and I ain't mad it for that. It seems to work. Its not a place full of affectations. We got some water and some hummus. The hummus was really good. This isn't a place with a Meditterean vibe, but it was some of the best hummus I have ever had. The main dish i got was the lamb dip. I have been very keen on sandwiches lately and this was one was spectacular. I don't dig on eating baby animals, but when I choose to, I hope they taste like that delicious little lamb. For those playing at home--quinoa and kale are both on the menu. We had great service--we got our food quicky. The server was knowlegable and gave us some info about items on the menu. Great food too. I don't like concepts and restautraunts. I like good food in restauraunts. Thats what you should aspire to achieve. They do that without a doubt. The concept might get you in the door and it might not get you in the door--but good food will. Go there, citizens! Don't go to the Cheesecake Factory or the Olive Garden! I can't spell. There use to be a spell check on this, right?

I have been here three or four times, and have had good service every time. They have these really cool chairs outside, but there are always people in them! Really any food choice is tasty here, but I would not get the cheese plate appetizer. It is around $12 and you do not get enough food for that. If a place names its self after a menu on the item, you should get it then! The whiskey cake is BOMB! Hope you enjoy this place as much as I have.

Sunday morning brunch complete with a Bloody Mary bar ~ and the food was to die for. I had the B.E.L.T., which is a toasted brioche, sunny side up egg, peppered bacon, farmhouse red tomatoes, fried green tomatoes, with a remoulade for $10. All made with local ingredients and made from scratch. I will go back and I recommend the Whiskey Cake to all my fabulous foodie friends. YUM! P.S. the whiskey cake is in fact just as awesome.

We've been looking forward to trying this since before it opened! We finally had a date night this week and Whiskey Cake was our top pick! The decor is almost overwhelmingly outstanding. You want to look at everything and see everything but there's so much to see. We loved the little touches from the menus and chalkboards showcasing the farms and ranches. I love how the whole restaurant is bookended by the bar on one side and the open kitchen on the other. We had been at a cocktail event earlier and had had some snacks so we weren't starving. We split the Fried Green Tomatoes - we both loved the breading and the sauce, and you could tell they started with very high quality tomatoes. We also ordered the chicken meatballs. Outstanding. Take the manager's suggestion and order it with a piece of baguette and eat it as a sandwich. Yum! We also split the Fried Chicken salad. It was refreshingly not a calorie bomb. Though the dressing was creamy (and the salad thoroughly dressed) it wasn't drowning in dressing. The chicken was fried, yes, but it wasn't overly greasy and again, was a very high quality cut. I had the Tennessee Stud and Mr K had the Sazerac. We loved our drinks and look forward to trying our hand at making them on our own at home. The manager came over to visit with us, and we both thought our server Jimmy was excellent - easygoing but attentive and knew the menu backwards and forwards. We splurged and split the Whiskey Cake. It was very good, almost a ginger bread but not quite as dense as the ginger bread I'm used to. Served with fresh whipped cream just like my mom makes it! We look forward to coming back and trying more entrees. I think the trick to a place like this is to come with a large group and split a few things so you can try more. I'm leaving off a star for the price - it seemed a bit steep, even though it was very good. There were also a few touches we'd like to see change. Over the course of the evening, the started to seem so bright and harsh, with no way to dim it. You can turn it off, but then it's a little too dark. It felt a little interrogation room! But these are small things and it is ultimately a good restaurant and very nice addition to a part of town overrun with big chain restaurants. We will definitely be back!

I've had 4 visits to Whiskey Cake since my unfortunately disappointing visit last month. I can honestly say that Whiskey Cake has definitely earned a spot among my top 3 favorite bars/restaurants in OKC. I can't wait for the weather to warm up so I can enjoy the patio more frequently. I've been to WC for brunch, lunch, dinner, and just drinks. I've been here about 8 times and have only had 1 visit that was not excellent. As noted in my previous review, however, the GM's response to that situation was outstanding. It can get a little pricey, especially for dinner, but it's worth every penny. The food is consistently delicious but the cocktails are where WC really shines. Service is generally attentive and the quality of ingredients (for both the drinks and the food) is impeccable. Food items I recommend: the duck, pork belly ramen, anything off the brunch menu, the mussels, fondue, fried green tomatoes (omg! my favorite) and of course the whiskey cake for dessert. They take reservations!

What a wonderful experience. Honestly; I want to give a 5 star rating but I am trying to be fair and impartial so I will keep it to 4... for the time being (I plan to eat here again before flying home). Our group called ahead and got a reservation - which turned out to be absolutely necessary as the place filled to overflowing within an hour of opening. Our group of 15 people was well accommodated as our server was prompt, accurate and attentive throughout the entire meal. We never lacked for drinks, apps, napkins or any other amenities. Our group order the Chicken Waffles, Mint Oreo French Toast (yes it's a thing and yes it was orgasmic), the Farmer's Breakfast (eggs, toast, potatoes), Lemon Poppyseed pancakes with Blueberry Compote, and several other scramble and/or breakfast sandwich based dishes. Given our groups' groups'propensity for sharing delicious bites, I was able to taste nearly the entire menu, right down the the fried green tomatoes, which were also delicious. From the urban, industrial motif to the prompt service to the accuracy of the ordering process and through to the last, agonies of the final, succulent bites (we were all stuffed). The Whiskey Cake (yes it's a dish) at the end was pure hedonism. I couldn't barely manage one bite... but i am oh so glad I did. It is not to be missed. Ah hell... after reading this review-prior to posting-I just realized... this was a 5 star experience. Kudos Whisky Cake. Kudos.

Funny story about this place, The first time I came here I didn't think much of it, the food was average it was alright but later I came back to try again. Think I had a hamburgers but it was a long time ago when they first open after elephant bar and Grill left. Now to present day or this past year of maybe 10 times eating here. Environment has slowly got appealing to me but the seats are still not very comfortable, They do have some great virgin drinks or alcohol drinks. So when I came back I got the fried green tomatoes and drinks which I think that's how it started to have this place grow on me. I've eaten so many different dishes on their menu and from there brunch, lunch and dinner. I usually always get their eggs now and fried green tomatoes for appetizers. The eggs-are always special for the season because they are little different with local ingredients that are fresh for that time of the year. The food here is inconsistent, i've had the Ramen noodles twice, the first time was okay but second time was wonderful. I've had the steak tips twice both times were pretty good the second time was not as great as the first. But I must say besides all the great dishes like the salmon or steak to say whatever it is you prefer the food is much better than most restaurants in the metro. You most at least once try the whiskey cake it's huge and heavy but so delicious. This is my go to place If I don't exactly what to eat that day.

So I have reviewed this place before when it first opened. This is my second review - been there multiple times and consistent food and service. Only restaurant where I have tried literally 80% of the menu and with the exception of the fried chicken salad- all good. Side note on that salad - some shredded beets and dried cranberries would be good. Right now it's a plate of green leaves, cheese, 3 slices of apples and 3 chicken tenders

I went with a large group and was very impressed with the service and meal prep! We chose to use a small menu so the chef wouldn't be overwhelmed but started with a few appetizers (fried green tomatoes, goat cheese, peppers, deviled eggs); I am gluten free so only had 2 of the 4 but the group enjoyed all of them, no leftovers there! Several of us ordered salmon (it wasn't dry as salmon can often be and had good seasoning) but most went for the chicken and cheese melt. There were a lot of positive comments and it looked amazing. For dessert the entire group had the whiskey cake which most described as super sweet but awesome! I would definitely go back if I come back to Oklahoma City.

Looking for a new place to dine, my wife and I went here for dinner. The food and service were very good. Atmosphere was open, loud, fun, not intimate - which isn't necessarily bad, just not the best place for a stereotypical romantic dinner. We would bring our 4 young kids here because they are naturally loud and would just blend in, not stand out. (You parents out there know what I mean!). We had the basic burger, chicken melt, sauteed green beans, and whiskey cake. All were excellent. The whiskey cake could feed up to 4 people, depending on how much you had for dinner. Save room for it! Or get a piece to go for later. Which is what we should have done, but instead finished the whole piece.....

This was my second time we have been here. We used open table to make a reservation. I highly recommend make a reservation they are always busy. The hostess stated they had just got out of the wait list when we arrived. We had the fried green tomatoes last time which were very good. This time we had a fondue which was equally as good, if not better. I can't remember the entree I had last time, but this time I had the Bronzino, which was an amazing fish cooked perfectly. Both times we have had the whiskey cake, though I would say last time the cake tastes much better. We had a center piece for cake last time and this time we had an edge piece. I think the inside piece is way to go if I had the choice. We did not have drinks here this time, but last time we did and they were awesome. Anthony was our server tonight he was very personable and helped us pick the best entrees and very attentive.

I was disappointed at first to see elephant bar go, but this place definitely makes up for it! The food is wonderful. I usually get either the salmon or turkey burger. Normally I do not care for turkey burgers, but you MUST TRY theirs. If you like fish, they also make excellent salmon, perfectly cooked with great flavor. The atmosphere is very fun, although it is too loud for a date. The service is great, and of course you have to get the whiskey cake!! You'll crave it every time you drive by :)

If it's your first time, order a few things and split, that way you can splurge too! Lobster Roll & Whiskey Cake are must-trys! We also tried several cocktails, that were all very delicious, unique but I'm pretty sure the bartender had a heavy hand. This seems like the type of place to take a family or large group - they have "banquet tables" with sliding table spaces that can expand the width of the table to your party's needs. Have yet to have great service but all of the employees seem to be pretty quirky so that might be their thing. The only thing I can say is that it does have a very corporate feel to it. It boasts local and homegrown and that sort of thing, but feels like a hipster Chili's. The uniforms are great and cute and kitschy as in the decor but something just feels off. It definitely appeals to an older, affluent crowd more than a young and in-the-know crowd. I have no complaints about the food or drinks but I think it might ruin my local rep to come here too often.

Traveling through town on business, I wanted to find something close by with a decent menu. I decided to give Whiskey Cake a chance, thinking it would be as overhyped as a lot of places I find on Yelp. I was so, so pleasantly surprised to have it live up to the Yelp hype! Amber, my server, was so nice and her recommendations were spot on. She recommended the deviled eggs (um, adding pulled pork to a deviled egg? Nothing is wrong with that). She also steered me to one of the most delicious preparations of chicken I've had in a while. Her best recommendation through was the whiskey cake. Good god, I have to come back to OKC just for some more of that cake. Five stars all of the way!

Hated this place! I can't understand why it got 4 stars. First impression: loved the look of the place! I ordered a chicken salad (the one with buttermilk dressing). It's supposed to be fried chicken but I replaced it with rotisserie chicken instead. I thought it tasted horrible! God... It made me feel sick and it's $13!! So expensive and tasted like crap. Sorry. Whole foods food taste so much better than this. It's just a salad.. I don't understand how they could mess it up. I guess it's the dressing too. Not coming back here again.

I suppose only giving three stars can be misleading because I had a good experience at Whiskey Cake. The service was good and the food and drinks were just as you would hope. However, it just wasn't a menu that I overall liked. I didn't think the appetizers sounded appealing, so I didn't order any. I had the Atlantic Cod sandwich, which was very good, but again, it just wasn't what I most enjoy in a meal. In addition to not really being my style, I felt it was overpriced. I do think it is worth trying, and if it suits your tastes you should enjoy it. Oh, and the whiskey cake desert really is very good.

I love this place! The waiter was so funny and full of life! You can tell he just was not there for a money, he really enjoyed his job! When I went I enjoyed the drinks, hummus and dessert. The hummus was really fresh with yummy soft pita bread, they bring you extra pita bread too if you run out. I don't remember all the drinks I had but I wanted to try a variety. The first was Tracy's Garden, it was a basil, mint and cucumber drink, very refreshing! The second was blueberry Hill or something like that, this one was my favorite! Very sweet and girly, the other two.... well I cannot seem to remember...haha! Then I ended the eve with the famous whiskey cake!! So delish, with homemade whipped cream!

My husband and brother and I ate here this afternoon and it was such a great experience. Our server Darnell was fantastic. It was such a pleasure to have him wait on us. The food was so good too. Everyone got an omg burger and my husband accidentally said oh my god when it came out. Definitely an awesome place.

Holy smokes, I love this place. The salmon is like nothing I have ever had....and the lentils that come with it? Yum. The dinner salad with the dressing was awesome and very fresh. No clue why this is a "top list" for OKC. It honestly feels like a normal chain restaurant to me. Pretty much like a Applebees or Black Angus steakhouse. Food is good, but really nothing special at all. Pretty typical foods. Problem: pretty expensive. There are much better places out there in OKC

Great atmosphere. Took Wes my waiter a few minutes to get to me but no big deal. Good menu, particularly the beer selections. Ordered the OMG burger and it lived up to its name, it was huge and almost too big. The only thing I didn't see on the menu that I expected to see was steak. I enjoyed Whiskey Cake and would recommend it.

Great lunch at whiskey cake today!! My daughter had the turkey burger and I had the kale and pomegranate salad! Odd choice to have a fried poached egg in the salad! You know what, it worked! Really fresh really tasty!! We started out being healthy but it's a trap!!!! You can't leave without having the whiskey cake! It's to die for!!

I enjoyed everything about this place...the food, the drinks and the staff. I was in Ok. City on business with a colleague. We saw this place driving into town from Tulsa and decided to try it. I started with one of their signature drinks, the Tennessee Stud which was absolutely delicious. Following that I ordered a Moscow Mule which was properly served in a copper mug and was equally tasty. To eat, we started with the arranged mussels. The broth had a little kick to it but not enough to call it spicy. The tasso ham added a nice background flavor. After the mussels were eaten, the broth was further enjoyed with the home made bread or came with. My colleague had the grilled duck breast which was very good. I've had duck numerous times but never mesquite grilled. It added a nice flavor to it. I had the OMG burger and OMG is how I would describe it. They use ground brisket for the meat and it is outstanding. The meat is covered on either side with a home made challah bun. Between the meat bun and fixings, it is so big, it is a challenge to get it in your mouth, but when you do, you'll be glad you did. It was one of the better burgers I've ever had. As a side dish, I ordered the mac and cheese and again wasn't disappointed. I'm a mac and cheese snob and I really enjoyed theirs. The waitress told me they make it using white wine. I have to say I didn't taste that but regardless, I still really enjoyed it. Save room for dessert, because they've got some good ones. I had the signature whiskey cake. I was already stuffed from dinner but I finished it off it was so good. My colleague had the salted caramel ice cream which was also very good. The waitress was very attentive and helpful when I had any questions. I would recommend anyone to try this place. I hope they open one up in Houston soon. Hint. Hint.

My boyfriend and I went here for dinner as we were passing through Oklahoma. We had the mussels (delicious!) and I had the trout and he had the salmon. His salmon was very good and my trout was ok. The ambiance is neat and our waiter, David, was very, prompt and excellent. You could tell he's experienced at his trade. Also, the Whiskey Cake was freaking delicious. They make homemade whip for it too. This is a MUST for anyone who stops by. If I was in the area I wouldn't hesitate to drop in again. Also, I saw some reviews about slow service. Definitely not the case, but we were here at 10PM on a Wednesday night.

My family and I eat out often. My wife and I are also chefs and I have to say that the meal we had at Whiskey cake was one of the best we have had out in a long time. I am glad they replaced the Elephant bar. I think this place will do well and survive. OKC needs a young, dynamic and unique environment restaurant like Whiskey cake. Pork belly Ramen is way too overpriced. $12 for a salted small imitated Asian noodle. The salmon for lunch lacks of flavor. The veggie burger was just OK. Other than that, cool concept and nice design of a modern barn. OK! Enough of the boring stuff! Let's go to the good stuff! Their drinks are good...I love their French wit which has absinthe...hallelujah! And if you are at whiskey cake, you need to eat THE WHISKEY CAKE! I just love it! I don't know what they put in the whip cream but it was AMAZING! Add more whip cream to your cake! It is fattening but it is deathly delicious. The combination of whip cream, cake, nuts, etc...You will miss half of your life if you don't eat the WHISKEY CAKE. Period!

Every time we were looking for a place to eat while we were visiting family in the area, yelp kept popping up with Whiskey Cake. Yelp has never led me astray! Whiskey Cake was awesome! We went in for lunch and we all felt like we were back at home in the California bay area with the locally sourced, organic food and the atmosphere! :) My sister and I both had the chicken and cheese melt, my husband had the fried cod sandwich. All were delicious! The fries were cooked perfectly. My guava gimlet was delicious and my sister loved her Wabbit Smash (it's basically a mojito made with fresh carrot juice!). We finished off our meal with the whiskey cake -- wow. It's a must-order when you eat here! It was the perfect dessert to finish our meal. Next time I'm in town, I'll be going out of my way to eat here again!

I have came here several times, and the service and food are consistently good. The rotisserie chicken is my go to meal, and it is always good. Just had the French toast, and it was the best I've ever had! Great place to take a coworker or boss for lunch, or a pre drink before going out for the evening. Will return many times.

Love the food... love the cake... HATE the service. Hubby just tried to add an egg to his OMG burger and was told it wasn't possible because "it's not lunch" and the chef refuses to take those sorts of requests at dinner. Seriously?! And the waitress even laughed because they're not busy at all, so it's not like they don't have the time. The diva chef simply didn't want to. Happy Father's Day! Ha ha.

We had a GREAT dinner here! Kale and pomegranate salad, bahn mi sandwich and 3Little Pigs sliders were all excellent! And the cocktails were yummy. "Farm to fork, garden to glass." - is Whiskey Cake's favorite quote and I hear it every time I go. So it's organic and local, but is it good? So far, so good. I've enjoyed lunch time sandwiches and evening wood-fired salmons. The service is over the top (every guy has on suspenders!) and the atmosphere doesn't make you feel as if you're in the parking lot of a shopping mall. That's really my only qualm --- when I recommend it, I have to add, "I know it's in the parking lot of Penn Square, but it's good!" Mostly cause the mall parking is outrageous around this time of year. Try out the bahn mi, the salmon, or the chicken and cheese melt! Those are my faves.

I'm not going to even sugar coat this for you anymore than I already have with my impressive 5 stars! Try the edamame mushroom burger! Fantastic! The jalapeno cheddar biscuits for a breakfast app .. oh and the deviled eggs. Great concept, all farm to table so you know what you are eating is fresh and most of the time even local; which to me... if you are going to eat "franchised" food then you should only be eating Whiskey Cake!

I really like the menu and the concept of this restaurant. I have been quite a few times now and can say that my favorite things are their delicious signature cocktails (the paloma being my fave) and the fried green tomatoes! The service has been a mixture of really amazing and then kind of eh.

Love this place. Excellent brunch, excellent dinner, excellent drinks. The only downside is that it can get a little bit (ok, a LOT) too loud. The staff is generally good, and I like the ambiance, though its starting to get a little cliche for farm to fork style restaurants to look like this. I have literally never had anything here I don't like, though I can't say I have a favorite thing. Also of awesome interest: they have a variety of specially mixed non alcoholic juices that are AMAZING if you don't feel like boozing it up. I love the hulk smash and jessica wabbit enough that I've passed up drinks in their favor before. As to the food style: your typical farm to fork modern american with a twist. I mean, its a trend, they are exactly on trend, and they're doing it well.

I visited Whiskey Cake during my visit to OKC and really enjoyed my meal! I started with a house salad and it had me oohing and ahhing so much I had to apologize to my dinner companions. That dressing was incredible and it was their house vinaigrette. For the main entrée I had the albacore tuna salad sandwich on a gluten free bun. The prices were very reasonable and the atmosphere had a swanky vibe. I thought the male servers in their suspenders were absolutely precious! A GEM in OKC!!

Oh man! Where do I start? It was all so amazing. The atmosphere, food and cocktails were all way more than what I had expected. My wife and I decided to try this place for the first time, I don't know how we had waited this long after hearing so many good things. We came in on a Friday night about 8:30, the restaurant seemed like a bustling hot spot, so we sat ourselves at the bar to have a cocktail while we waited the quoted 30 minute time. I had the Veux Carre (pardon my French), and the wife tried the Tracy's Garden. After trying it, she said it was exactly what she wanted. My drink was strong but welcomed. Not even fifteen minutes had passed and our tabled was ready. Our server, Darnell, had to have been the most knowledgeable server in the building. He knew where everything was from, stating that a majority of the food comes from local farms. We tried The goat cheese fondue and the fried green tomatoes. Both appetizers were highly recommended. The goat cheese was rich and savory, and we have never had better tomatoes. For dinner, I tried the salmon and the wife had the Kale and Pomegranate salad. The salmon had been marinated, adding a nice herby flavor to it. It was delicious. The Mac and cheese I had with it was also a perfect 10. The wife seemed pleased with her decision as well. We did not have room for the Whiskey Cake at the end, so we took a piece home. We just devoured it. Needless to say we will be back this week for more Whiskey Cake.

The Whiskey Cake is seriously worth trying. I can see why they named the dang restaurant after it!

Took a visiting thriller author here to let her enjoy some of the things I've enjoyed in Oklahoma City. Whiskey Cake delivered again: duck wing appetizer, goat cheese fondue appetizer, deviled eggs made with pork roast, watermelon and salad mix, and then whiskey cake with créme fraiche. Didn't taste any alcohol but this was a very delicious and moist cake with nuts. Definitely loved the contrasted textures with the creme. Reminded me of a good gingerbread but different seasonings (not ginger) and kicked up a notch. We had decaf French press coffee with that and it was a good combo. Compliments also to the waiter for his recommendation of a good white to go with our choices. The reisling was very smooth.

Food was delicious as we had hoped. Our waitress tended to disappear for unusual lengths of time (while forgetting to bring out the drinks we needed refilled). Not too fond of some of the prices ($20 for a steak smaller than a cocktail napkin) and the fact that they do not allow substitutions. Not everyone is a 100% health nut and wants mashed squash with their meal.

What a great place to gather with friends, or with your S.O. and just relax and enjoy the atmosphere. Their food is very delicious and also some tasty drinks.

My son said he had heard about this place and so we thought we'd check it out for lunch. Atmosphere was nice, food was tasty but a bit greasy, parmesan fries were good, the kettle fries not so good, lemonade was on the sour side but I liked that it was freshly made. Service was slow although waitress was pretty good in checking in on us. The Whiskey Cake was good but on the sweet side.

All of their drinks and food have been absolutely delicious. The service has been fantastic each time we have gone even when it's a busy night. We went there in Valentine's Day just for some drinks and their amazing whiskey cake, and the service at the bar was great.

My wife and I are in Oklahoma City on business. For me, this was my first time here. This evening, we visited Whiskey Cake Kitchen and Bar. Let me cut to the chase, it was awesome! Let me emphasize, awesome. Our server, Rebecca, was super attentive and made helpful suggestions that we accepted and were grateful for. Two managers, Kyle and Kayla, stopped by to be sure we were enjoying our experience. We also found the atmosphere to be unique and pleasant. Then, for dessert, we split the Whiskey Cake. On the 1 to 10 scale, we agreed it was definitely a 10. We're only in town for one more evening and were researching tomorrow night's dining spot. However, we're strongly leaning toward returning to Whiskey Cake. There are lots of interesting menu choices and we'll again order the Whiskey Cake. Although, this time, splitting one dessert isn't an option.

Whiskey Cake has unexpectedly good food and drinks. They utilize a small farmer's market that allows them access to fresh ingredients and real food from scratch. Their drinks are especially impressive and boast fresh juices and hand mixed specialties. Definitely share an appetizer - they are all really good but I especially like the deviled eggs (they're always changing!) and the hummus even though it's pretty garlicky. I usually get one of their salads or sandwiches. They're fresh and the menu changes seasonally so you're bound to get something good. Also definitely try the whiskey cake! I don't usually order dessert when I eat out but this is a great item to share and will exceed your expectations. Accepts reservations except for their patio (which is very enjoyable).
